To complete the red theme:
A Santa costume or any red t-shirt or top.
A white blouse. A red and white false collar or dickey, from China. I bought through ebay.
Red lipstick. Rouge - or spread lipstick on cheeks using moisturiser to thin.
Red accessories such as red ear-rings, rings, tie-pins, bracelet or watch.
Buy a red elastic hairband or wrist band.
Red socks. Buy or find ones saved from a Virgin Atlantic flight.
Alternatively use red dye on a white pillowcase and cut it up to make accessories such as, a neck scarf, a headband, a bow tie, a hair bow, a choker, a tie belt, a belt, a tie on bracelet, false sleeves, mittens, fingerless gloves, a patch on the back of gloves, bows on the ankle straps of sandals, gaiters, football socks.

Every year I add one item to my collection of festive hats. We used to go out for a Christmas dinner at a restaurant and each table received pretty paper hats. Only a minority of diners (only me) would keep a hat, or two, for the following year.

Headbands with reindeer antlers are popular.

Every year there's something new. Flashing lights. Flashing light on hats, flashing light badges. If you see a window display of seasonal souvenirs near a tourist hub such as Victoria station in London, they are likely to have racks inside with brooches, ear-rings, tie pins, and key-rings, some of which move or have flashing lights.

Do you need an outfit for a Christmas or winter party?

You can buy Santa hats, complete outfits for men and women and children, ear -rings, and wine bottle covers which look like santa hats, santas or Christmas trees. (Winter trees, or holiday trees, if you prefer that expression, or are buying a gift.)

UK Father Christmas

Santa - meaning saint, is suitable for Catholic countries. The red outfit has swept the shops worldwide. Buy from supermarkets and party shops. You can buy an entire outfit for a man or a women very cheaply.

Instant Hats

To make an instant Santa hat, just print one off. Any piece of cloth or paper can by coloured red and folded into a cone. If necessary, add a lining for stiffness. Add cotton wool around the rim and stick a white pom pom on top.

What about your irreligious or anti-religious friends and colleagues. Another colourful Christmas time character is the alternative Russian Grandfather Frost and the Snow Maiden. In some countries and cultures the snow maiden is his grand-daughter.
