What Can You Do When Moths Eat Your Clothes? Post 437

Image
I have tried putting vest with holes in the drawer of the freezer. But I can't do that to all my clothes. Who knows where the moths will strike next!  I sent off for moth traps. I bought a set of five.  I eventually opened the box and read the instructions. For a day or two I did not open the inner packets. I was delaying.  It looked too complicated.  I was suffering from afraid to open the box syndrome. Finally, I showed it to my husband. Together, we worked it out. One person read the instructions and said, "I don't understand." The person listening to the instructions said, "I see what they mean." Two heads are better than one. Absolutely. There is a notch to tear open each of the silver packets.  You fold the inside item into three. Triangular. Then, where to put it? I put the first one in the bathroom. Why there? Easy to see and remember to inspect it. Useful Websites On Moth Traps amazon.co.uk amazon.com ebay www.mothout.co.uk Please share links to you...

Storing Clothes - What Works Best? Top 10 Space Saving Storage Systems To try. Post 436

I joined a new (to me) group on Facebook, called upcycling clothes. My husband thinks I have too many clothes. I have two solutions.  1I am hanging clothes over the bath. Bathroom washing line. Photo by Angela Lansbury. Copyright. 2 I am putting them in the laundry bag because I have nowhere to store everything. 3 I already have hall hooks - for hats and coats. 4 I have wardrobes with hanging rails. 5 I have stacks of pull out plastic drawer. 6 On top of them I have plastic boxes with lids. Not as good as drawers. The lids are not see-through. The highest one cannot be reached. You have to lift the top two to get to the one underneath. Drawers are better. 7 I have hangers with multiple bars for trousers. 8 I have over the door hooks. They are useful. Until you overload them and they pull off.. 9 I have big cardboard boxes in storage with light weight tropical clothes from living overseas. 10 I have racks over radiators. I asked this question (shown in Italics) edited and improved an...

I have started sorting out my clothes. Sorting styles.  Black Skirts and Matching Tops  I have all the long black skirts in one place. Tops with black and another colour are in the same section.  Sorting Colours Another section is reds. Next them are oranges. next to them are pinks. Then blues. Greens, yellows. Multicolours. Silver and gold.   Where do you put grey? (The American spelling is gray. You might put grey after black. Between black and white.  What about brown? Alongside yellow. What about purple? By pink or between pink and blue. Fold or Hang? If your storage area attracts moths, I find it easier to shake out a few items than to unfold and fold again. This depends on your bedroom or closet (wardrobe) layout. I lose items when they are folded. I find it easier to find an outfit if I hang a skirt and matching top together. if I feel like wearing red, i have a red outfit or two to choose from. Some of my skirts are designed to be folded and h...

Posture support update on day three of wearing it 784

Image
I  wore the posture support over a delicate silk Patra short sleeved vest. I thought it was a mistake at the time. But the picture of the posture support showed it over white tee shirts on both men and women. Maybe they did not want the woman to look naked. Nor to show a distracting bra which is not included in the package. I decided it was best to wear the support on top of another garment, instead of against my skin, because I did not know how to wash it. It was thick and might not dry easily.  When I took off my precious, perfect colour, silk garment, it had several tiny holes centre back. What had caused them? Why were the holes all grouped all together? Could they be moth holes from the previous evening, which I had not noticed when I put the garment on in the morning? I decided that the rubbing of the central vertical of the posture support had rubbed at  my silk vest. Would wearing the support underneath also rub? Probably not as much, because the support had to be...

How can you protect your clothes from moths?

Evidence Of Moths We seem to get plagues of moths in both Singapore and London. Sprays and other fumes can be bad for fish and pets and make you want to open your windows. I don't know what spiders catch, supposedly flies, but despite trails of abandoned webs showing spiders have been snaking about at night, the spiders are not doing a good job on moths where I have been in Singapore and London.  In both Singapore and London in the UK I have had moth-eaten clothes and edges to carpets and moths flying about.  I see moths flying towards light bulbs. I find dead moths inside lampshades.  That is merely annoying. But holes in clothes! Something must be done! I try to shut the doors and windows before turning on the lights at night. But if prevention does not work, how about buying a cure? Home Remedies For Moths Home remedies include vacuum cleaning carpets.  And putting clothes in the freezer. What is available? I wanted to reduce sprays which I was already using...
