The White Jacket, with Black Edged Collar 1 The horizontal label under the back of the collar says Saks Fifth Aveue. A second vertical label on the inner right hand side says David Hayes.   The white jacket has a black pinstripe. The collar has a black edging strip. The dame black fabric is used to edge the buttonhole. The Sleeves Instead of cuffs, both sleeves have two parallel lines of black fabric.  The shoulders are padded. Does that date the jacket? The Pockets The two semi-circular pockets are curved and edged in black. In the centre of the semi-circle ia an arch, as if the whole pocket is cut from an oval serving dish. It has one large button.  Sometimes I wear an outfit I hate because I am saving another outfit for a special occasion. If I am in a hurry, I select an alternative outfit. Then I think.., but I have lots of lovely outfits. Why not wear the pretty one and feel good all day. If I died tomorrow I would never have had the opportunity to wear the better outfit.  But the good outfit requires matching of colours. the good outfit felt tight. It needed matching underwear. I could not remove the sleeves in a hurry. The driver was calling. I had an appointment for a checkup with the nurse.  Undressing In A Hurry Sometimes an outfit you can remove in a hurry is what you need. It does not flatter you to wear huge sleeves, a looose skirt, a loose top. But it is practical. So I put on the Black and white Anthony Sicari outfit. DESPITE those horrible pleats. I was right. She said, 'I don't normally buy from them because their styles don't suit me, but this dress appealed.' The dress has a tie belt made of the same fabric. That looks neat and does not cut the vertical line into two squares,.So you look taller than if you wore a contrasting belt.  It looked crisp and fresh, very smart. Interestingly, the collar looks like it is cut across, because the black triangular tips disappear against the pattern below. Look closely, and you see it is a normal pointed collar. That gave me the idea that if a collar is frayed, or you want an unusual and unique style, you could cut off the tips of the collar and sew them neatly, or edge the collar with ribbon, or ask a shop which does repairs to do that for you. Copyright.  I took a photo of myself with myself wearing an orange scarf to add colour to a black jacket, plus some colourful flowers in a Ladies rest room. (The Tanglin Club in Singapore. You can find similar flower displays in flower shops, and in the lobbies and rest rooms of large hotels.) Other photo opportunities are flowers delivered for a birthday or anniversary, to you or anybody else.  I needed several shots to get a really good one. I also did a lot of editing, mainly cropping. This beautiful butterfly top was worn by my friend at Writers' Summer School at the Hayes Conference Centre in Swanwick, Derbyshire, England, UK. I stopped to compliment her on it and ask her where she got it. She said from BooHoo.  The colourful loose jacket upgrades a pair of pale blue jeans into an evening outfit. BooHoo I typed butterfly into Boohoo and did not find this item. However, I found 50 items featuring butterflies, from jeans to bikini tops. I found more on Amazon and Etsy.  Search Words - Such as Kimono I tried searching the word kimono which brought up something which had eluded me for years, how to find ankle-length outfits with wide sleeves to be sure they were large enough to go over my upper arms.   Photo by Trevor Sharot. A bright and cheerful outfit. Black background is easy to match up with a thin black skirt in summer and a thick black skirt in winter. On a cold day I have added a white blouse underneath. I checked another couple of white blouses before deciding on this one. Anthony Sicari garments on sales on ebay are often sets of three, skirt, top and matching long oblong scarf. I have seen Anthony Sicari tops offered on ebay with these sleeves described as dolman sleeves. Sometimes the dolman sleeves are cut in one piece from the top with only a seam under the arm and only one seam joining the front to the back of the garment. have I understood that right?   Vintage Black and White Principles Blouse The smooth woven label at the neck says Principles and it does not have that nasty sharp edge created by heat sealing. This all in one top is comfortable, pretty and practical. The silky, stretchy black body is size 16, Euro 44 and made in China. The fabric is 86% viscose and 14% polyamide. The shiny white yoke and sleeves are, surprise, surprise, 100% silk. The neck and cuffs have pleated edges. I looked up Principles in Wikipedia and learned that the company started out as Burtons, which became Arcadia. The parent company owned down to earth Dorothy Perkins, smarter yuppy Principles, British Home stores and many more - such as the Debenhams store. Hard times struck. Struck the balance sheet, the shop floor staff - and the customers. The Arcadia brands were sold off by administrators, mainly bought out by Boohoo and Asos, this year, in 2021.
