Albanian traditional national costume, dress of the day 573

Image
Photo by Angela Lansbury. Copyright. A boy's complete costume on Ebay costs about 100 dollars and up on ebay. Women's outfits are over 200 dollars plus shipping from Albania. In Tirana, the capital, a bus was parked in the pedestrian boulevarde filled with restaurants and temporary stalls.  I asked in Albania what their cheapest Albanian outfit was. It was about 100 Euros which was 5 times more than I wanted to pay for a souvenir I might wear only once or twice. If you want a modern souvenir piece of clothing, there are plenty of tee-shirt and caps showing the Albanian flag with its striking red background colour and double headed black eagle.  You can also buy items with woven patterns. I bought a bag which I was very pleased with. It cost me about 10 Euros which is about eight British pounds sterling. Useful Websites https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albanian_national_clothing

How To Disguise faded or stained fabric: White to Blue to dye for, dyed Tru blouse, dress of the day 572

Image
I had a lovely white blouse, elegant evening wear. The buttons were gleaming, with central diamonte, gold colour edge, soothing circular buttons. Dress of the day and dressy for the evening. Tru blue blouse, dyed blue. Photo by Angela Lansbury. Copyright.   Echoing the larger buttons were tiny glittering mock diamond accents. On the collar and cuffs were parallel strips of gold colour matching the buttons,  The TRU Brand The label was TRU, a German brand. Expensive. I bought it from a now gone shop in Hatch End high street (Americans say main street) in London, England. I tried on every white blouse in the shop, until reluctantly paying for the high price blouse, which outclassed the others as well as fitting me and suiting me. It would go well with a long black skirt for evening wear. Because it was so expensive, it sat unworn in my cupboard for weeks, months, years. (Americans say closet - but they really do have large walk-in closets, whilst British houses have built in cupboards,

Gold sandals from Cushion-walk. Photo by Angela Lansbury. Copyright. Do I need to buy new shoes? No. I just gave a speech on shop in your spare room. Shop in your own cupboards. Save space. Save time. Save clutter. Save the planet from those piles of unwanted goods which are sent to Africa.  Now the empty spaces are full. The piles of clothes and shoes and accessories are catching fire, polluting the air, sending out methane gas, polluting the water with dye from new clothes, with dirt from stained and old unwashed clothes. Filling up land with piles of rubbish. The land could instead be used for food, or housing,

Blue Denim Jacket With Practical Pockets: Pictures 570 Dress of the Day

Angela in pale blue multi-pocket jacket at winery in Albania, in pale blue jacket. My pale blue jacket was what I wore travelling on the plane, when hiking, in the car and making indoor visits. The four deep outside pockets were handy for holding a phone, or my folding baseball cap. Angela took off the pale blue jacket to look co-ordinated and take up less room when we where told to squash up to allow the photographer to get in view the people on the far left and far right to include all members of the group. The photo was taken at a lookout point near Theth in northern Albania. Notice that this time Angela is inconspicuous in navy, white, and red accents. The stand out colours worn

Angela Lansbury in blouse with red watermelon and yellow and green pineapple pattern. Selfie photo by Angela Lansbury. This was my regular shirt on my trip around Albania. I washed it out every night and wore it next day. Ocasionally it was slightly damp but soon dried off. A couple of times it was dripping a slight dark purple dye onto a bathroom floor or bath. Mostly I was able to squeeze it half dry and dry it a bit more with toilet paper. Or hang it on a balcony.

Adjustable sandals are handy when you used to have to remove your shoes to go through security on long haul flights. On Whiszzair in June 2023 from Luton to Tirana, the capital of Albania, and back again, I did not get asked to remove my shoes.  But my feet change size going from hot places to colder countries or air conditioned places. So it is handy to have adjustable shoes. The Small Cross-body Fabric Bag Bought in Albania from a kiosk at the Shkoder Castle, a hilltop castle in north A

Dress 565, Red, ready in a reversible dress, transformed for the evening by the bow. Secretly freshen up when travelling.

Reversible dress, worn the plain red side, with red sandals and a red hair bow on a clip. Photo by Trevor Sharot. This reversible dress has one side plain red. When I received it in the post, bought from ebay, I was a bit disappointed. However, today I got it out and found it was the perfect under garment for a long red skirt under a short red skirt, or to match any red top. Very versatile on holiday. Neat and plain, like the plain colour outfits with matching hats and shoes worn by the British royal family. The Reversible Dress Like so many reversible dresses, no label. A mystery.   Angela Lansbury wearing a green Gillian outfit. Photo by Trevor Sharot. This outfit consists of a long green skirt and matching top. The label is Gillian CLASSIC FEMME. Made in Korea.  Size 14.   Dry clean. I won't dry clean. Instead, I shall wear it with a black long sleeve vest underneath which I can wash daily.  The fabric is unusual. 70% polyester. So it does not crease.  20% Triasteit. I have never heard of that. The last 10 per cent is viscos (sic). Not viscose with an e at the end, v i s c o s. Hm? The Top The top has a lovely cut and an agreeable fabric. It has lightly padded shoulders. The sleeves are net. Stretchy net.  It feels comfortable. The Cut Of The Top The cut is most unusual. The back of the top is in three sections. Two curved lines down  from the shoulders.  It feels as if it fits well. It feels better than it looks. Size 14 is a little loose on me, since the post Covid-19, diet for a healthier weight. But the charm of the outfit is in the cut.  The Front of
