Holes in A Hat For Ribbons Dress 611

Image
I wore my Union Jack hat as a prop in my speech about the English language for a humorous speech contest at Harrovians club in London. The hat had no retaining ribbon. The hat fell off when I leaned forward and was likely to be blown off in the wind, and it was a gusty day. I needed a ribbon. I had known this for some time. I periodically thought about this when I looked at the hat, while the hat sat around unusued, waiting for an outing. But I hesitated to make a hole in the hat in case it split.  However, on a windy day, I knew I needed to secure my hat. Especially as I was walking with a walking aid, and a heavy, bulky bag, and did not have a hand free to hold my hat. The Ribbon I have lots of reels of ribbon. I would have preferred red or blue. Less likely to show dirt or get stained. but the white was to hand already cut so I took that. I chose a wider ribbon, rather than a thinner piece. I  wanted it to be comfortable. The Hole Next, the hole. What could I use to ...

Your Large Scarf Or Tee-shirt Could Act As An Emergency Sling Or Clothing 515

I broke my clavicle in a car accident. The hospital gave me a large triangle of cream colour cloth to tie around my neck as a sling. One evening I want out with a scarf and wanted to wear it draped over the sling to hide it. Then I thought I could use it as a decorative outer piece, with the hospital;s scarf underneath like a lining. Then I realised the scarf was strong enough to bear the weight of my arm without the hospital's cloth. In an emergency, to protect your arm, or somebody else's, you might need to create a sling, or some kind of bandage.  A large scarf or sarong would be very handy. Using a pair of scissors, and a needle and thread, (both in some small sewing kits) you could create a sling, a headscarf, a head bandage, a headband, a swimming cap, a mask, even a bandeau top and a pairt of shorts or swimming trunks. A poncho, with a t shape cut in the middle, is easy and quick to make. Several videos on YouTube show you what to do. I have saved some of my favourite ...

Waterproof Bags - Protect Against Rain I had two plastic handbags. Their advantage is that they are waterproof. That is handy in tropical Singapore. In autumn it rains most afternoons. Waterproof bags are also handy in the most visited South East Asian tourist destination, Thailand.  Waterproof  bags - Protect Contents The waterproof bags are helpful if you gave to carry something wet. For example, a wet swimsuit. Or food and drink.  However, they have fabric linings.  The bags feel heavy, even without my adding contents. I have to travel with only my big suitcase, my pull along bag, handbag and heavy laptop. That is without any duty free purchases. The bags look cheaper than my embroidered fabric shoulder bag. The weight is the deciding factor. They have to go. In the bin. Hotels should have a leave and take corner for surplus bags and boxes and suitcases. Scissors Before I reluctantly say goodbye to the bags I fetch a large pair of scissors. I cut out the fabric li...
