Dress Of The Day with Angela

I would be seated all night so the skirt was not important, only the top. I would be drinking wine, white, orange, and red wines. So I needed a top which would not get stained. Synthetic fabric. Not white. Preferably patterned. I have several Anthony Sicary outfits, mostly tops, a few with matching skirts, one of two with the matching scarf, and one red jacket. Most have some red or pink. One or two are mostl black or navy. Warm Colour, Warm Fabric  I wanted to wear a different one. And not the dark colours. Something in a warm colour. But not bulk sleeves. Why? Because I was wearing a black woolly cardigan. Why? Because I was going to be sitting in a large hall which was unheated and cold last year. Colourful Caftan The colours of this caftan are a white background with pale pink vertical edging, and curved darker pink, and touches of black and grey. Summery sunny white and warm pink. The black leaves suggest flowers.  For a speech contest I wore a colourful caftan over my warmer, winter clothes. My idea was to create a suitable costume to fit my subject which was my honeymoon in Morocco. Therefore, something summery. The White Blouse I actually started with a white blouse, thinking of weddings requiring all white, because my opening anecdote was about my honeymoon.  The white blouse covers my neck and forearms. It fills in the V-neck elegantly. No gaps, bra straps, lopt-sided views of a vest. It adds elegance to the simple caftan with more shiny silky look, and the added intricacy of the pleating. The longer arm sleeves kept me warm. The cuffs covered my distracting watch strap. The label is Alternatives. Size UK 1...

Storing Old Clothes in the Old Days  In the good old days people used to store their winter clothes in a suitcase in the loft or attic in winter. The reverse took place in summer.  Storing Items In Garages Nowadays we recycle and collect clutter. Only a quarter of UK garages are used to store cars. Now cars are left in the front forecourt, and garages are used for storage, clothes, accessories, bric a brac. You need to keep moving clothes. Why? To be sure that moths get disturbed. Also so that the clothes do not get mouldy from damp. (American spelling moldy.) Avoiding Impulse Purchases I try not to go shopping for food. I postpone my trips to Tesco supermarket because it is right near a charity shop. If I shop for food, it is better to go out after the charity shop has closed.  Home Shopping The Americans have home shopping channels. The batwing sleeve and short skirt makes it extra cool for a sultry, sweaty summer, a well-heated winter room, or the tropics.  I was pleasantly surprised that I did not look daft in such a short skirt. What with my age, which I cannot change, my height, which I can only vary with high heeled shoes, and my weight. But now that I have lost a lot of weight I can wear outfits which never fitted or suited me before.  For the photo, to continue the green theme, I picked up a glass with a green lid (saved from aplastic bottle) which is used to keep dust and fies out of my water glass. To echo the orange pattern on the tee-shirt, I added an orange belt, made from tying on a large, orange thin scarf. I shoe orange open toed sandals to complete the orange and green summery look.  For the background I had some green plants, rather than a white wall.
