463 Pink Broderie Anglaise Top, with White Pendant and white hat from Tu brand, Sainsbury's Supermarket

Image
Angela Lansbury wearing pink top and white skirt. White Cap White broderie anglaise cap, brand Tu, from Sainsbury's supermarket. Bought second hand from eBay. Pink Top From brand Tu, sold in Sainsbury's supermarket. I bought mine from eBay. Laura Ashley Lace Hem Slip (Vintage) This Lace Edge Slip is worn as a skirt. I keep asking various males, 'is my outfit looks okay.'  None of them say, 'You are wearing a slip.' My son did say, "You are dressed casual.' He did not say, 'You need a skirt.' Interesting - casual! I thought I looked elegant, pretty, at least smart casual.  So, on holiday I must keep the broderie anglaise for daytime. I need to change in the evening for dinner. White has the disadvantage that it easily stains.  Hotter Sandals The Hotter sandals are style Easy. They have two hook and loop fastenings over the toes and instep and a buckle at the back. I used to not wear them much. I preferred vibrant red. Cheerful red. Not boring cre...

Winsome Win some - Grass green (Tu) skirt contrasting with an orange (George) top. Dress of the day, outfit 446

Image
Yesterday, I lost. Today, I won. Yesterday, my online purchase of a posture support garment was not a success. However, today I am all smiles. My grass green skirt from Tu Woman goes perfectly with my orange top. Orange and green outfit. Photo by Angela Lansbury. The Vibrant Green Skirt I bought a green broderie anglaise skirt on ebay. I love it. I immediately tried it on with my orange broderie anglaise top. The orange of the top offsets the green of the skirt. Wow. What a wonderful combination.  I already liked the orange broderie Anglaise blouse, but - but what? But it was sold as off-the-shoulder, with spaghetti straps. that did not feel or look right. The elastic pulled on the top of my arms.  I wanted to wear it with the sleeves on the shoulder. But then the neck gaps. Should I wear it the way it was supposed to be worn? No. I am not on the beach. (Despite the hot summer weather in London, and the hot weather in Singapore, the USA and worldwide.) I can't wait to we...

Dogged, dog-eared, dog puppet, dog toy, dog pattern blouse, dress of the day 438, 440

Angela Lansbury wearing dog pattern blouse with dog puppets. Photo by Sharot Family. I was so pleased with my sheep picture, where I am wearing an apron showing sheep, and added a sheep puppet and sheep night dress case, that as soon as I saw a dog themed pattern on a blouse in a shop I decided to copy the image of multiple dogs.  The Sheep picture which inspired my dog picture. Photo by Trevor Sharot. Dog Puppets And Toys A look, a rummage, though my tote bags of puppets and displays of soft toys produced three dogs. A dog puppet. A small dog toy. A large soft toy dog. At first I just held all three in my arms. Then I thought, if the puppet dog is a puppet, I should wear it on my hand.  I held it out sideways, as I would hold out my hand welcomingly, if not wearing a puppet. That had the effective effect of making it look as if the puppet is peering out. Oops, my shoes don't match. No time to change - we are going out to a barbecue. I shall hide the shoes by putting th...

Clothing Company Names, Labels and Brands

Image
I used to wonder why a company would choose a different brand name. Surely, if you buy from Marks & Spencer, or Sainsbury's, or Primark, that label tells you enough. Then I found out why they change brand names.  Some of these companies sell worldwide, although you might find more stores in their home country.  Update July 24 2023 Not only to they have different names for clothes for men, women, and children, sometimes for teens, for classic and modern, for businesslike and for sexy/disco wear, for luxury three piece lined clothes with double stitching and spare buttons for mother of the brides which are dry clean only, and for skimpy, light crop tops you can wash in a machine or wash by hand. For example Asda - George H & M (Swedish) Levi Strauss & Co - Levis (started in the USA) Mango - Violeta, Mango Teen (Spanish, in Turkey and worldwide) Morrison's - Nutmeg (UK) Next - F & F Primark - Atmosphere Sainsbury's - Tu Brands The same company could have dif...

Leopard Pattern Outfit co-ordination created from different smart suppliers of dresses, bags and shoes

Image
Photo by Angela Lansbury. Christine has a perfectly matched outfit. Leopardskin pattern print. She jokes, "No animals were hurt making this outfit!"  When I asked her, "Can you show me the pattern on the shoes?" she obligingly swung her ankles over the arm of the adjacent chair.   I have several times tried to match up leopard skin patterns to make a complete outfit. On one occasion I managed to match two items but the third was with a different size of marking, and a different colour scheme. I had black markings on white in two items, but small print on the scarf and hat and large marking on the dress. Also I had but brown markings on cream in the hat and scarf, but black and grey on the dress. My friend 'C' has cleverly matched three items perfectly. The best way to do this is to match them up in the shop. But you can also buy all the times online. The shoes are by Nike.  The dress is by Dolce & Gabbana. The bag is by Moschino. The cheapest shoes or sn...

BRANDS! Tell us about the clothing labels, (brands) and which companies or shops sell them: Atmosphere, George, St Michael, Tu - from which shop?

Image
LABELS - and stores which sell them Look inside a garment and you will see a label. This tells you where you bought the garment. If the garment is second hand, the label tells you where the item was originally bought. You can then buy other items to match, or others with the same cut or sizing. You might find shops or online sellers have similar current, or vintage items. Labels are useful. Why are the labels left on? 1 The wearer never thought of removing it. 2 The label is very firmly stitched on. 3 The label is handy to help you buy a matching item. 4 The label is essential if you wish to return the item intact for a refund. 5 The label can be used to hand the garment on a hook, or secure it on a hanger so it does not slip sideways. 6 The wearer is proud of the garment and wishes others to see it. 7 Out of respect to the designer to preserve their identity. 8 To help get a good price when selling it second hand. 9 To identify the item if it is lost stolen or in a heap such as ...
