I live near the shops which is more interesting, for me, than walking pas houses, since I prefer people to plants.  Near Tesco is St Luke's charity shop raising money for a worthy cause, a hospice. London has several St Luke's shops, in Hatch End, Stanmore, and other areas. You can see a list of outlets on their website. Bought in St Luke's charity shop for £4. Slightly over my budget. I look first in the £1 jumble box. Then the £3 last reduction rail. Vintage Clothes Shelana of London was a British boutique producing maxi dresses and cotton lace. From the nineteen 60s to the Eighties.  This blue top is 100% polyester. Lined body with bust darts. Glinting flat sequins. Thick shoulder pads. Google kept finding me South Africa, hotels called South Lodge, loding in the south of the USA.  I did find one South Lodge top on etsy. The top which was cream colour was described as vintage by the seller. But it had no sequins nor embroidery.  I was not tempted to buy. Nor even show you, my dear reader, the picture.   See outfit 484. Blue Indigo Moon Top The blue top is one of several vintage outfits I bought on ebay, mostly odd jackets or tops. I spent a week bidding on several and waited to see which, if any, I won at reasonable prices. 3 XL so fewer bidding for it. The embroidery colours are pale pink, pale blue, white and black. The thick matt almost felt like fabric is mostly cotton,  with some polyester. The trim different.  Plus beads and sequins.  Iron on warm, it says. Then, don't iron. Reading carefully, I see it says don't iron on decoration. You would have to be very careful. Or place fabric over the decoration so your oscillating hand movements on the iron don't go fruther than intended. This time I am wearing the long top with a black skirt and white blouse. The White BHS Blouse White. Vintage. Eighties style bow at the neck. Shiny and elegant, so it goes with the glitter of the teeny sequins and teeny tubular white beads of the blue top.  If you are looking for embellishments for an outfit, consider sewing on large buttons with your favourite motif. Elphant buttons are sewn onto Thai clothing. They are on foldover / wrap blouses which fasten underneath with hidden snaps (which in England we call press studs). Here are elephant buttons which I ordered in a large size. You can get elephant buttons in all sizes and designs, as well as owls and other motifs. I ordered these three elephant buttons online. They are bigger than I expected and beautiful.  I have already ordered a blue Thai top with the classic three elephant buttons.  I already have a top in red which I bought years ago in Singapore in a clothes shop in Holland Village. I can't find my red top. Maybe it's in storage.  I can see it in a photo of 231 in this blog.  The three buttons are below the bust across the tummy to the waist area. The red skirt completes the look, but does not have buttons. The fabric is stiff and creases a bit. Yet...

Angela wearing sky blue applique top, with hand-drawn birds. Photo by Trevor Sharot. I rescued this pretty top. I loved the applique, the sewn on swirls. Applique is the French adjective for applied. Applied, applied to clothing. Stains On closer inspection, I saw why the pre-loved garment's owner had thrown it out. The fabric was white - but with small brown stains! I disinfected it with water and detergent. Then tried removing the brown stains with bleach.  The stains faded a bit. But not enough. I was afraid to keep doing day after day, because the garment was too delicate.  Dye So I dyed the garment pale blue. I loved the blue.  But the pale, coffee-coloured spots were still there! How c ould I hide them? Drawing Birds I had first tried the hand-drawn flying wing birds in black on my son's thick hooded sweatshirt. Just two arches, like a flattened McDonald's arch. Easy to draw.
