I was looking for something summery and light to wear when giving a speech to Harrovians Speakers Club in London. Not red - too hot. Warm orange.  My basic piece was my colourful skirt. I love the colours, the flowiness, the feeling of luxury. The Silk Skirt, Multi-colour Light weight. Pure silk. Label Patra. UK. Half length black underskirt.  Patra Skirt Style Cut diagonally in forward slash and backlash in several pieces. Blows upwards in the wind Patra Skirt Pattern Black background. Large  sand smaller white moon shapes  on a stalk with a leaf.  Small disc shapes like baĺloons on teeny curved green stalks. Some are dark orange. . The others are pale salmon pink. In electric light at night indoors they look yellow. The Silk Mix Orange Top From Patra Also from Patra. Lace up centre front. 8 loops. Size large. 55 % silk, 45% cotton.  A bit too casual for the skirt. But the colour matches. I had lots of tops with patterns which clashed with the patter...

Angela Lansbury at the Tanglin Club, in Singapore. The Orange Skirt I am wearing an orange silk skirt. it has a zip, three metallic domed buttons at the head of the zip, and two side pockets. I love the colour and the feel. Orange Bag Matched with an orange tote bag. Orange tee-shirt The tee-shirt with a pattern of oranges amuses me. I bought it for only 5 dollars in the basement of Bukit Panjang.  I went back again a couple of days later, no sign of the stalls. Sometimes those cheap stalls actually belong to the more expensive and larger shops and department stores upstairs. But the bargain basement wheeling display units show piles of stocks of cheap sale items. Orange Footwear Orange-red Crocs style clogs, with a small black koala pattern. Orange Scarf the orange scarf is to protect me from the chill of air conditioning in the lounge. The scarf also doubles as protection for the blouse and skirt when I am eating lunch, tea or dinner. Pink cape blazer by Curve. Selfie photo by Angela Lansbury. That Striking Watermelon and Pineapple Blouse My find in the St Luke's charity shop in Hatch End, which used to be an Oxfam charity shop. (St Luke's has about 17 shops all over north west London, raising money for hospices.)  The blouse has no label. Maker unknown.  I took a fancy to the summery pattern with jolly red. I tried it on. It suited me. I bought it.   A feature is the double button. Having two buttons, one on each side of the opening, allows for the wearer's change of size, or sex if you want to fasten it differently. The Red Silk Skirt The red skirt is from Monsoon, UK size 16.  The waist is tightened with safety pins.  The colour changes from jolly red at the waist down to burgundy at the hem, That is a good place to have a darker colour. A long skirt is likely to show the dirt, or the contrast of dirt. 100% silk. Lining 100% acetate. I found it on eBay by searching for silk. I was del...

Pink and white blouse, outfit 396, and Toastmasters Medallion

Angela and Warren at Harrovians Toastmasters International speakers' club in Harrow, London, England, UK, May 2022. Angela's Outfit White Shoes Marks and Spencer. Size 5. White laces. The see-through lace effect goes well with frilly white blouses, lace or eyelet style, which would otherwise look overdressed against practical, sporty shoes.  Bought from St Luke's charity shop in London. They raise money for hospices. White Petticoat Elastic waist. Two tiered with gathered lower layer and crochet hem. Brand name Laura Ashley. Khaki Skirt Patra. 100% silk. Pencil shape. I think I must have bought it second hand on Ebay. For years I never wore it. I thought the colour was dull. The silk was heavy, thick, rough rather than soft and silky. However, now in 2022 I have rediscovered it. The neutral colour goes with everything. Because it is not a treasured item I can wear it all the time without worry about spoiling it or staining it. Warren is wearing a smart black suit with a bla...
