  The shop is in Westfiels, near Sherpherds overground and underground or white city.  Cotton. Comfy wide sleeves. A slit each side. Worn over pale pink trousers bought from Next years ago.  I was looking for something summery and light to wear when giving a speech to Harrovians Speakers Club in London. Not red - too hot. Warm orange.  My basic piece was my colourful skirt. I love the colours, the flowiness, the feeling of luxury. The Silk Skirt, Multi-colour Light weight. Pure silk. Label Patra. UK. Half length black underskirt.  Patra Skirt Style Cut diagonally in forward slash and backlash in several pieces. Blows upwards in the wind Patra Skirt Pattern Black background. Large  sand smaller white moon shapes  on a stalk with a leaf.  Small disc shapes like baĺloons on teeny curved green stalks. Some are dark orange. . The others are pale salmon pink. Size large. 55 % silk, 45% cotton.  A bit too casual for the skirt. But the colour matches. I had lots of tops with patterns which clashed with the patter...

Where I buy bargains  I bought this in St Luke's charity shop which raises funds supporting hospices in London. It cost one pound from the rummage box of second hand scarves and hats and gloves.  These shops are all over north London.  Why Buy A Bargain Hat Or Scarf? I like a bargain. I like something new - new to me. If I am supporting a charity, too, that's good. I need to limit my spending on clothes. And the amount of space they take up in my home, so a small hat is good. A foldable knitted hat or woven scarf  can be squashed up beside the others. Child Size Hats I tried it on and fitted. You can imagine my eyes widening in surprise when I got home and read the label. It was for 3-6 years! It is stretchy. It could have said fits all sizes. But the label inside warns that it is unsuitable for children under the age of 3 because of small parts. Advantages Of Checking Children's Hats Now I know that I can look at children's hats and try them on to see if they fit me...

The black bag and brown shoes are hardly noticed. The black bag does have brown handles.  The eye-catching yellow effect was seen by me from some distance away. The pale brown shoes go with, echo, the wearer's pale brown hair. Top to toe. The perfect colour combination for a sunny summer day. You could wear yellow trousers with a white top for a colour block effect. But the yellow flowers creates a more delicate look. More subtle. More matching.  Four items arrived all together. Such fun.  I had been looking for a long dress with a matching long jacket. Usually sold at around twenty pounds, sometimes nearer forty. I decided to opt for the cheapest as some of the reviews were not favourable. Website photo. 265 1 The Little Black Dress I was seduced by the picture of a black and white top. I do not need more tops. I have umpteen tops. You then have to spend hours finding something to match. On hoidy you are never as put together as other people in expensive dresses, or even cheap dersses.  Besides, a top can end up too short, leaving a bar midriff, hanging lopsided. Or too long, bulky when tucked in. See also post 521, I picked this up off my sewing table where I had left it for further sewing and maybe cutting. I previously had safety pins across the top. this time I added two new features The Neck Slit I simply cut a vertical slit half way along the fabric neckline for the front of the neck. The main reason is that the horizontal line rubbed uncomfortably against my neck. I could prevent this happening by adding ribbon across the middle of the top of the fabric to make the horizontal line an inch or two lower. However, making a cut was an instant, quick solution. I used pinking sheers. Besides, I thought it added interest. It made the outfit look more like a shaped dress and less like two bits of oblong fabric. To keep the two cut pieces folded down, I could sew on two small shirt buttons, or two fancy buttons, in black, white, brown, red, blue or gold. The ...

For a trip to a dinner at an Italian restaurant, featuring Italian wines, I planned on wearing the colours of the Italian flag, red, white and green. Oops. I am glad I loaded up the flag. It is green, white and red. In my Italian colours outfit, the skirt is green, the shoes are red, the jacket is red, the top is red and white. I don't think anybody except me noticed the significance of the colours. If the Italian tourist board had been there, giving out little Italian flags, they would have noticed. Red Jacket The red jacket is also called a cape blazer. Sometimes described as open sleeve. The label is Be Jealous. The red jacket adds vivid colour to accentuate the red in the red and white top. Made in Bangladesh. It has two spare buttons, one in each size. Seven buttons down the front placket. Two on each cuff. One smaller button fastening the slit up the wrist from the cuff. H & M started in Sweden and is now in many countries worldwide. H & M stands for Hennes and Mauritz. It is a man's shirt, in good condition, with long arms. I considered cutting off the cuffs to make a shorter flared sleeve. However, the geometric pattern is more rigid and suits the cuff.  It is a casual shirt, but not a feminine style, more practical. The cuff has a wide placket with one buttonhole, and a narrower one underneath with the button. I could use either one of them to make a tab. Neck Warmer The brand is from Patra, from the UK, not the Patra in the USA. These neck warmers are available in several colours. Light. Handy cover-up for a low neck. Mostly silk so it is soft, and not bulky. Skirt The red skirt is labelled Anthony Evenings. This seems to be a brand of Anthony Sicari. I bought it second hand on either Ebay or Etsy from the USA. It is part of a suit, size 22.   It was much too large for me, so I tightened the skirt with large safety pins. I meant to sew it, but never got around to it. The fabric is thick, so the safety pins are not pulling out nor tearing the fabric.  The Green Xmas Outfit The popular story says that the original Santa was dressed in winter green, like a Christmas tree, or holly. I started with a black knitted cardigan which had two long collar tails, which I looped into a tie. Underneath I wore a warm, white jumper.  I needed neck interest for appearing in photos and on Zoom at meetings of Toastmasters International. In London, UK, Harrovians club meets online on a Monday, in person at a church on another Monday. So I added the orange blouse. Just the collar showed. I did not need more. That was fine. The collar added colour, warm colour, vivid, transforming me from dull to vivacious, and framed my face.
