Where I buy bargains  I bought this in St Luke's charity shop which raises funds supporting hospices in London. It cost one pound from the rummage box of second hand scarves and hats and gloves.  These shops are all over north London.  Why Buy A Bargain Hat Or Scarf? I like a bargain. I like something new - new to me. If I am supporting a charity, too, that's good. I need to limit my spending on clothes. And the amount of space they take up in my home, so a small hat is good. A foldable knitted hat or woven scarf  can be squashed up beside the others. Child Size Hats I tried it on and fitted. You can imagine my eyes widening in surprise when I got home and read the label. It was for 3-6 years! It is stretchy. It could have said fits all sizes. But the label inside warns that it is unsuitable for children under the age of 3 because of small parts. Advantages Of Checking Children's Hats Now I know that I can look at children's hats and try them on to see if they fit me...

The problem is you have surplus scarves.  Why would anybody have surplus scarves?  1 Inherited For example, from a hoarder mother. Never mind sentimentality.  If you must keep it, use it as something new. useful and pretty and creative 2 Impractical You no longer wear scarves because you are in a hurry. Practical reasons - they are a hazard when working You moved to another climate. Evening scarves don't go with ski wear. Woollen scarves with matching mittens don't go with beachwear. Get organised 3 Unwanted gifts You don't wear scarves - and not those colours and fabrics. Clear space so everything brings jo 4 Reorganised Now all scarves are separated from matching outfits you have extras. 5 Downsizing Moving somewhere smaller. Or into second home or house-swapping and need space. 6 Modernising Old-fashioned scarves have to go. Pass it on and update. 7 Buyers Remorse It was cheap. You bought too many. I joined a new (to me) group on Facebook, called upcycling clothes. My husband thinks I have too many clothes. I have two solutions.  1I am hanging clothes over the bath. Bathroom washing line. Copyright. 2 I am putting them in the laundry bag because I have nowhere to store everything. 3 I already have hall hooks - for hats and coats. 4 I have wardrobes with hanging rails. 5 I have stacks of pull out plastic drawer. 6 On top of them I have plastic boxes with lids. Not as good as drawers.The lids are not see-through. The highest one cannot be reached. You have to lift the top two to get to the one underneath. Drawers are better. 7 I have hangers with multiple bars for trousers. 8 I have over the door hooks. They are useful. Until you overload them and they pull off.. 9 I have big cardboard boxes in storage with light weight tropical clothes from living overseas. 10 I have racks over radiators.
