Angela Lansbury wearing a Union Jack dress. Union Jack Dress The dress is a pull-on, stretchy, sequined dress in red, white and blue, the colours of the Union Jack flag of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.  You can buy this or similar ones on Amazon for a penny under twenty pounds in British currency. You can reset the website to your preferred currency. I wore this for a second year running at an annual conference. It seemed popular. Half the people were different and had not seen it before. I got lots of compliments and raised eyebrows and smiles. The Wig The wig is also in red, white, and blue. The British people say fancy dress party. Americans say, a costume party.  Useful Websites https://www.fancydress.com/collections/usa-costumes https://www.amazon.co.uk/BRITANNIA-SEQUINNED-DRESS-FANCY-PATRIOTIC/dp/B I like this version with sleeves, if you are willing to spend about 23 pounds and something pence. Some reviews said the fabric ones were light weight or nearly s...

Traditional Union Jack Chair Contrasted With A Jolly Yellow Caftan, dress 491, travelling outfit

Union Jack chair at Heathrow airport. Angela is wearing a yellow caftan. Photo by Trevor Sharot. A chair in flag colours. What a great idea. And a great photo opportunity. the bright red, white and blue enhances my bright colours, the yellow caftan, red sandals, and the neat straw hat. You can make yourself a caftan. They use a lot of fabric but are easy to make. See my previous post 448 on how to copy a caftan. This quick-wash caftan was added at the last minute to protect my other outfit worn underneath. I am wearing a pink broderie anglaise top. I was travelling light, with a carry on bag checked in. If my luggage went missing, I would still have two outfits.  I thought my outfit was rather a melange of colours and fabrics and styles. However, two people complimented me on my bright, colourful outfit. Admittedly one was in the perfume area, probably hoping to sell me perfume. Bright yellow keeps me awake and lively when travelling. If my husband loses me, he can ask if an...

Where To Buy An Elegant Union Jack outfit 471

Union Jack Tunic with seqin pattern on front.   The Union Jack top or tunic in sequins was in the centre of the shop at the front. It was eye catching. I had to have it. Selecting Sequins First, I felt the fabric. I had had a disaster with a red sequin top I bought cheaply in the same shop. I thought it would be fun for the last night gala farewell at my writer's conference.  My husband hates sequins. He is a conservative. Like Prince Charles. He does not want to be outshone by his wife. Gaudy. Unsuitable.  He won't be there. My chance to shine. Literally. I like sequins. It was cheap I bought it. In a hurry. Didn't even try it on. Sequin Failure However, when I got the top home and tried it on, I found the sequins were large and sharp edged and uncomfortable. I thought they would tear any item I wore underneath on top. Not to mention my own skin. Label The label is Fever. The symbol is a red heart with a diagonal arrow through it pointing North west to south east. The si...
