Dress Of The Day with Angela

 I was looking for something summery and light to wear when giving a speech to Harrovians Speakers Club in London. Not red - too hot. Warm orange.  My basic piece was my colourful skirt. I love the colours, the flowiness, the feeling of luxury. The Silk Skirt, Multi-colour Light weight. Pure silk. Label Patra. UK. Half length black underskirt.  Patra Skirt Style Cut diagonally in forward slash and backlash in several pieces. Blows upwards in the wind Patra Skirt Pattern Black background. Large  sand smaller white moon shapes  on a stalk with a leaf.  Small disc shapes like baĺloons on teeny curved green stalks. Some are dark orange. . The others are pale salmon pink. Size large. 55 % silk, 45% cotton.  A bit too casual for the skirt. But the colour matches. I had lots of tops with patterns which clashed with the patter...

It was XS, extra small, yet is quite big enough, quite large on me.  When I opened the packet, I wasn't sure if I liked the purple fabric, but I liked the turquoise and silver sequins. I was pleased that the sequin pattern was repeated on the back. I think front-only printing often looks cheap, as if the manufacturer or seller has economized on the quality of the cloth and the effort of lining up the pattern and not wasting fabric.  On the other hand, what is missing from Indigo Moon garments? Pockets. I shall manage. I usually wear a vest or jacket with pockets.  Any other hesitations, buyers's remorse? Also sequins on the back might damage something else. Clothes, such as a jacket or coat or scarf worn on top. What about the chair or car seat when you sit and lean backwards? What about tearing the fabric if you rest on a couch or bed for a nap?   Pink Patra top.  My favourite fabric, design and colour. Actually bamboo fabric.  30%% cotton. Ribbed. Very soft.   Pink colour. Lace V neck and lace edged sleeves which reach just below the elbowthe front waist has the decorative feature you find on Indiho moon clothes. Painting and glitter.  Small painted darker red almost invisible flowers.  Single small sequin centre of each flower gleams, add a touch of elegance, class. Interest, luxury, design  Teeniest round bead at the centre of each small seqin The skirt is pillar box red. What is an indigo Moon? A blue moon. I looked up the colour indigo. Favourite Features The wide rickrack (zig-zag) braid enhances the skirt hem, the elbow length sleeves and the neckline. The neck has a wide shirt-style turn back collar. I tried folding it together at the neck but that wasn't nearly as good.  The brand is Emery Rose. This label is for buyers, usually older, who like conventional and covered up clothes, not the revealing, cutaway clothes exposing all sort of bits you are trying to hide. Angela Lansbury wearing a dark pink Patra vest.  Photo taken and edited by Angela Lansbury. I bought the vest with lade neck and cuffs from ebay. It is bamboo and cotton. In the early days of the company I bought silk items in this style. I like long sleeves, or at least three quarter length, below the elbow. Now the vests are made of bamboo which is surprisngly soft. And environmentally friendly. Bamboo grows very fast. I have the orange rose from a front garden in London in December as a contrast to the pink. The picture is edited with the lassoo function on a Samsung mobile phone. I eliminated sitracting background, more focus on the foreground flower and vest.

I was looking for green and white to match the green and white of the Esperanto flag because I was giving a presentation on the Esperanto auxiliary language for my languages club on Zoom every Sunday. Hung over a bookcase to hide the distraction and untidiness of the books. The red of the apron covers the distracting grey of my IKEA office chair and matches the red background. I  wore the posture support over a delicate silk Patra short sleeved vest. I thought it was a mistake at the time. But the picture of the posture support showed it over white tee shirts on both men and women. Maybe they did not want the woman to look naked. Nor to show a distracting bra which is not included in the package. I decided it was best to wear the support on top of another garment, instead of against my skin, because I did not know how to wash it. It was thick and might not dry easily.  When I took off my precious, perfect colour, silk garment, it had several tiny holes centre back. What had caused them? Why were the holes all grouped all together? Could they be moth holes from the previous evening, which I had not noticed when I put the garment on in the morning? I decided that the rubbing of the central vertical of the posture support had rubbed at  my silk vest. Would wearing the support underneath also rub? You can hang it on the wall on a hook, or over the neck or a hanger, using the monsoon label. Or hang it on a hanger. Hand wash. Made in China.  It has seven tiny fabric covered buttons. it gaps at the neck but you can fill this area with the tie bow and/or a pendant. Jewellery - Pendant I am wearing a pendant with a reversible centre. It has two sides, one with a small dark red stone in the centre, the other with a small blue stone. I am wearing the red side outwards. The Skirt The skirt is from Patra in the UK. Not to be confused with another company in the USA. It is silk and feels soft. It has two thin ribbon ties to hand it up so that it stays crease free. The colours are red, yellow, black and white. You can  see the dark navy gilet on my right shoulder. Your gilet or waistcoat has to be short enough to hide under the hem of your jacket, or the jacket must be long enough to cover the gilet. Traditionally, a man's suit consisted of a waistcoat which ended at the waist and had two outside pockets ending at the hem, whilst the jacket was longer. I have a waistcoat which has to be worn on every journey with every outfit. I actually have several traditional waistcoats inherited from my uncle, but the pockets have no zips. Not safe for doorkeys, credit cards, lipsticks or anything of value. What is a gilet? I looked at the tops.  Colour Test I tried the colours against my skin tone on my arms. Pale blue, pink or royal blue? The deep royal blue was the best of three. I regret not buying the other two.  Price - Quick Decision But I knew I had two dollars. I had just received two dollars in change from the five dollar note which I had given the shop for the three dollar top. I had not tried on the item. I was in a hurry. I had to meet my husband in Starbucks. Fabric Weight and Garment Packing I now regret not buying all three bargain tops. I was a bit worried about the weight and volume of packing for our return journey. But the items were so light that I could have worn all three. Red Theme Red lace top, with red lace glove and red apples.  Red Lace Jacket The red lace jacket with bell sleeves was so pretty. Too good to throw away. But it was tight on the arms. Maybe I bought it in a sale. I have lost a lot of weight, but not enough to wear tight slim sleeves. So I slit the under seam. The red lace goes well with a sophisticated black evening skirt. When the jacket is worn over red, the lace effect is hidden. I found a pink top. But the pink was too dark and it clashed. The lining was pale pink. I reversed the pink top and the pale pink showed the contrast of the red jacket. The jacket kept slipping off. it showed too much cleavage. So I reversed it.
