  What is Temu? It was new to me when I read about it in the UK in June and July 2023. Not surprisingly, as I first saw it in the UK.  I was wondering what it was. Did it exist or was it a scam. I checked Wikipedia. As I suspected, it is a marketplace.  Wikipedia quotes sources. I generally don't. I summarize. Therefore, I won't say anything bad about any company for fear of  maligning a good company or being sued.  If I wanted goods, I would take the risk of ordering from a new company or one I did not know. I would prefer to deal with a company which had a tracking delivery, or a way of dealing with complaints about a failed supplier. Also a quicker delivery. However, if I was unsure about a new organization, and feeling cautious I would consider setting up a new bank account and a new email to protect myself from spams or worse.  I must say that the prices of delivery to the UK from the USA are exorbitant.  I have much loved, favourite, well-worn nightdresses and underwear. Eventually anything knitted grows thin, especially in certain areas, such as near seams and in gussets, or under arms, or along skirt and night dress hems, and develops ladders or holes. In theory you can cut out the parts with holes. A night dress could be made into a skirt or bolero or camisole Then use the remaining small strips or squares for scarves, spiral roses as decoration, hair bands, pockets, bags, purses inside tote bags. Maybe save the small pieces as lining for other thin areas, or simply scraps waiting for a later use.. I had a two pairs of pants (Americans say underpants) needing repair, one cotton, another lightweight silk. Cotton Underwear  I cut out the part with holes and wondered what to do.  First, I seamed together the pink cotton. Across the gusset. Would it feel uncomfortable? The internet offers you a host of chances to buy and sell. Lt's look at them alphabetically. Aliexpress began in and is based in China. It began as business to business but now puts you the consumer in touch with sellers. Amazon in Seattle in the USA has a free audio tour of its headquarters. eBid has categories such as: Clothes, shoes, accessories; Jewelry and watches (American spelling), and Whatever's left. ebuygumm appears to be UK only. Lazada started in Asia. Here's the Lazada office in Singapore. On most sites nowadays the buyer can specify a price range, or search low to high or high to low. Other options are sizes, brand names, and fabrics. Alternatively, match the accessories such as the shoes and matching bag, or slip. I looked at another dress I had with a belt consisting of two halves from either side of the waist to tie at the back. The belt was made from two seamed pieces of fabric of the same material as the dress. I did not have spare fabric and did not want to cut off the hem. I looked at my rolls of red ribbon. The only piece long enough was very narrow. I presume it was the sort sold for tying parcels at Christmas. It had a gold edge.  The advantage of narrow ribbon is that you would only need half a dozen stitches to sew it on. I found a similar vest tank top on Amazon in blue for only about ten Singapore dollars eighty six plus delivery. I saved it to Pinterest. The Jacket The jacket style is very smart. A wide stand up collar. Wide cuffs. The fabric has a gold thread.  On both sides of the collar and on each of the two cuffs are three five petal roses, with spirals of stand up satin ribbon surrounded by sequins. Six Chinese knot closures, each fastened by a loop of ribbon, are down the front. A placket ensures no gap. Both cuffs are fastened with similar Chinese knots.   The Jacket label is ROSEs. XXL. The bag is tote bag size, but with the bonus of a zip across the top and a small zip pocket inside.   Reversed Orange Tee-shirt I looked at the orange tee-shirt and thought, the colour is just right. But the small pattern in the middle did not go with the skirt. But was the back plain? Yes it was. I reversed the tee-shirt. Perfect colour. No pattern. I could wear it facing forwards at the dinner table at home, and online on a Zoom meeting.   Orange colour theme: The Tee-Shirt Top The orange tee-shirt's label is No Problem Teen, 100% cotton, made in Thailand.  The tee-shirt has an embossed paint pattern of three pairs of flip-flop (thong) beach sandals. I have reversed the top to show the plain side. Why? Because the two patterns on the top and skirt did not match. I thought, maybe beachwear and fish go. But I looked at it. No. I put the tee-shirt face down on a flat surface. Next the the skirt. The top was plain. I thought, maybe it is cut with room to expand over the bust, and tight on the front. It wasn't cut to fit. It just stretched. What if it is too high or high at the neck. I was prepared to cut a slit below the centre of the neck. I could edge it with ribbon. In a hurry, I could temporarily hide it with a scarf.  I put it on, back to front. Perfect. From the front, as in this photo, I am co-ordinated.  When I am seated at meals, you cannot see the back of the top, hidden by a solid chair back. ...

Dress of the Day 163. Selfie of Angela wearing her new colourful DIY swimming cap made from an old swimming costume. I arrived back in Singapore from the UK ready to go swimming in the outdoor pool and I found my swimsuit but no swimming cap? Where was it? Luckily nobody was checking and I was able to go swimming in a baseball cap with a brim to keep the sun out of my eyes. I was swimming breast stroke which keeps your head above water, unlike the crawl. The Story of the Search for Swimhats When I reached home, I went online and researched swim hat. I went on google and amazon.com and Ebay - after switching country of delivery to get the true postal address and postal rate.  Swim hat brought up what I would call sun hats, items with large brims, not waterproof. So I tried swim caps. By now, quite tired of this online search, I clicked on a reasonably priced item, from China, not the UK or the USA.
