  Anthony Sicari Black And White Jacket The jolly jacket is a vintage item. The label reveals that it is from Anthony Sicari, one of my three vintage favourites. (Anthony Sicari, Ann Balon and Indigo Moon. Plus, Marks and Spencer, for both modern and vintage clothes.) But Anthony Sicari has two or three collections. I have some saying Anthony Sicari Evening. This item has a label saying Anthony Sicari New York.  Sicari is Italian for a sword, dagger or similar slicing knife. How To Identify Vintage Clothes Often the name of the manufacturer on the label tells you. The label on the back of the neck of a blouse or jacket, or the back of the waist on a skirt. If that has been cut off, you might find a washing instruction label on the inside seam of a shirt or skirt with the company name small at the end. You might have seen this green, sleeveless dress previously under the blue blouse, acting like a skirt.  The dress is under a blue jacket in post 478. The green dress is in post 480, about the silver necklace. Today I am wearing the dress over the blue blouse. My dress is so handy, goes with lots of blues. Does not crease. Good length. Slightly shaped, not baggy but loose enough to be comfortable. I wondered of Karen Millen was a made up or changed name. At first I kept typing Miller. Then I got to know the name. Karen Millen is a real person. Wiki told me the whole story.   Sometimes the label is merely the name of the company, other times the label carries two pieces of information, the company name and the 'label' or brand. For example, in effect, 'Holding Company A', plus either 'Ourcheaprange', or 'Ourexpensiverange'.   A company can have different brandnames indicating: 'Womensclothes', or 'Kiddieclothes'. Holding Company A might buy up Company B. At this point the labels all carry the company name, Company A, followed by one or more styles of clothes from company A, or one of the styles from company B.  I find it fun to look up the names and learn the convoluted history of the company and a particular brand.
