Insect Bites Problem  I was bitten twice by insects, once on each leg. I was not outdoors, but sitting at my desk. Anti insect spray, and insect repellent, had not protected me. Insect Bite Prevention The solution was to wear long trousers (Americans say pants). I looked in my pile of summer wear and found a pair of long, green, leg coverings. The Green Stretchy Trousers (Pants) The brand label was MACJAYS. Made in New Zealand. I must have bought them second hand from an op shop on holiday in New Zealand. They were size 14. A bit tight.  Deep Cuffs The cuffs were turned up. I tried to turn down the cuffs. they were sewn up both sides. One of them had become detached on one side. I cut the other one to match. Patra, UK, started out selling silk. Now the silk is mixed with other fibers and the proportion of silk is gradually dwindling. Patra are also selling bamboo and cotton. In winter the long sleeved vest is a base layer which keeps me warm, but silk is thin and lightweight. I look for seconds on Ebay. Why wear a long sleeved vest in summer? I have been covering up for years. This habit started in Italy when I was a teenager on holiday with parents at a hotel. I wore a low-back dress. I was asked to dance by a member of the hotel staff, probably our regular waiter. I vividly remember being uncomfortable because he held my back with his hand which was perspiring. How do you dispose of old clothes creating clutter? Buy new clothes cheaply for growing childen?  America has lots of shops for second hand clothing and clothes sold on consignment, pay when you buy, receive money for good taken to the shop or when they eventually sell.  In Singapore there's a chain of outlets called ReFash. I shopped in two of them. One is in Bukit Panjang in the NW, at the end of the Downtown line. In Australia, a swap system has just been featured and promoted. It works on getting a credit or token for items you leave. Another system has an entry fee which allows you to take up to five items. Of course there's the online bidding system, ebay. That would involve you packaging and posting up and taking photos.  Footwear is described differently in countries around the world as I discovered to my dismay. Thongs in Australia  In Australia I went into a beachside bar. A sign on the door said, No thongs. Okay, I was properly dressed in a wrap skirt, no thong underwear revealing buttocks. The barman said, "No thongs." I replied, "That is okay. I am not wearing thongs." He replied, "I can see you are wearing thongs." I was puzzled. How could he see my underwear. Through my clothes? Visible panty line? In any case, he had made a mistake. In Singapore a good place for selling and buying second hand clothes is refash. I have found them good for buying second hand clothes. I used two branches. One is in Changi Point, near the Expo MRT, one stop from Changi Airport. Another place is Carousell. If you are puzzling over the spelling, the usual spelling of the word carousel, which the British call a roundabout, is carousel, but the company name word ends Sell, with a double ll, as in buying and selling. In the photo you can see I was wearing a dusty pink dress, brand Ann Balon. The dress and matching jacket had lace appliqu é .  The Colours of The Clothes I thought Ann Balon's dusty pink was dull on my complexion, corpse colour so I tried dyeing it with Dylon powder dye from a box. I decided to just do the edges to see if I liked the color. I liked the effect of the contrast color edges. No need to do any more. Besides, the dye made such a mess in the bath, overflowing the plastic bowl, dripping as the clothes hung over the bath on hangers, that I decided not to do any more dyeing.   Boring bathing costumes from years ago. Plain patterns. Just dull. Swimwear, like pyjamas, is so often deadly dull. What has changed? Vacay A newish company in Australia, Vacay, started by two guys who were travelling and wanted to buy practical and attractive swim and beach and travel wear, is now selling  swimsuits and shorts for men and women in Australia as well as many other countries.  I can't upload the pictures here, but you can see them on my Pinterest Dress of the Day. Patterns include colourful stripes, checkerboards in small red and white, and an animal print pattern which I think is leopard skin. They are not cheap. And/or enlarge the sleeve holes. Or slit it down the sides and wear it as a tabard. To hold it in place, my favourite easy adjustment, add two ribbons. All you do is sew on two small pieces of ribbon. Buy ribbons cheaply from a cut price store. Or borrow the rope or fabric handles from paper tote bags which you and other people throw out.
