I bought this garment because of the polka dots. Later I noticed the label. Bravissimo. They sell online: bras, bikinis and one piece swimsuits. At the front for easy of getting into the dress. Metal might be sturdier. Seller's ebay photo.  I ordered this from ebay. I usually go for the three-piece Anthony Sicari outfits.  Why go for three pieces matching? They make me look smart, elegant, co-ordinated, a top with wide shoulders, which was even more important when I was size 16, on a good day, in 2020, before I started slimming for health and safety during Covid,  I wroe it with  double closure sandals. Made in Hungary. Their colour is pale brown. How lon would it be on me? Not long enough for a dress. A flmsy skirt on a teenager could be that short. But not a warm, thick, autumn or winter gamrent.  Turquoise chiffon long jacket with long dress supposedly in blue,  I was quite pleased with this. The fabric of the jacket is thin and see-through, chiffon gauze, not the same fabric as the dress. Of course this makes it lighter to post and pack. Nothing like as classy as my lace Ann Balon outfits which have a jacket of the same fabric as the dress. However, good enough for a summer or sumery warm evening. The colour or the dress is a swirl of colours so the jacket goes with all or none, depending on whether you are a glass half full or glass half empty person. I managed to match it up with two chiffon scarves with multi-colours. See also post 521, I picked this up off my sewing table where I had left it for further sewing and maybe cutting. I previously had safety pins across the top. this time I added two new features The Neck Slit I simply cut a vertical slit half way along the fabric neckline for the front of the neck. The main reason is that the horizontal line rubbed uncomfortably against my neck. I could prevent this happening by adding ribbon across the middle of the top of the fabric to make the horizontal line an inch or two lower. However, making a cut was an instant, quick solution. I used pinking sheers. Besides, I thought it added interest. It made the outfit look more like a shaped dress and less like two bits of oblong fabric. To keep the two cut pieces folded down, I could sew on two small shirt buttons, or two fancy buttons, in black, white, brown, red, blue or gold. The ...

The Sandals The sandals are from Clarks. Size UK 6, Europe 39. The closure is Velcro or a similar touch and close over both the toes and across the instep. Colour a warm rusty brown. Platform heel. Curved insoles. The Headband The headband is a piece of orange ribbon, tied in a bow. It is inclined to slip off so if worn around the town it would need a hair clip or a cap or hat to hold it in place to look neat and prevent loss.  The Dress or Skirt from a converted pair of pyjama pants (the British say trousers)  I had a pair of thin pyjama bottoms with a small repeating pineapple pattern. The pineapples were tiny pale orange, each with the turquoise green tuft, on a white background. In between the pineapples are small dots of turquoise green. I cut up the inside leg seam.  I had heard of the rule of thirds in photography, but not in clothes. You can look at the rule of thirds up and down or side to side when composing or cropping a photo of yourself or another human body or a landscape. I like to have the head, hair, hands and feet in the picture. Some newspaper editors, on the contrary, crop faces to cut off hair and show eyes to make eyes bigger and a small face photo bigger on the page.  I prefer central interest. Symmetry. I agree that a figure on one side can be arresting, especially if it frames the distant view. Now, what about clothes. Can we apply the rule of thirds? We can make sure that a colour accent is in all thirds of the picture, the hairband, the belt and the shoes. I look at myself in a full length mirror before taking photos. I try front view, sideways, head turned, arms out and in, up or down, forward and back. I add and remove belts. Smaller or larger bags. Complementary or contrasting colours.   Are you short of summer outfits? Do you have a pair of shorts with a stained front, or a tee shirt with a stained sleeve? A great idea for re-using an unwanted or unworn t--shirt. Cut off the arms to make a tank top. Use the spare fabric from the arms to make two circular or oval designs, such as leaves for the below the waist garment. Sew your double patterns neatly by hand or machine onto a pair of shorts, as they suggest. Alternatively sew onto a skirt, or even a plain dress.  I would use the arm pieces to make pockets. You could have two front square or semi-circular pockets on shorts or a skirt. Or side pockets.The neatly seamed armhole hem could be made into a hairband, or the front or link piece of a belt made with a long piece of ribbon or a doubled ribbon, with or without interfacing. They usually have several scarves at assorted prices. You can buy scarves from cheap shops or online. Whenever I see scarves in great colours or sold at great prices, I take a look. Size  I looked through the hanging scarves for large scarves. This one was the right size, super sized, sufficiently large to make a dress. First, I check whether a scarf will match lots of outfits. If so, I keep it with my scarf collection. However, in this case the stripes would not go with my dresses which had patterns of flowers. If a scarf matches nothing, consider turning it into a dress. Alternatively make a top and find a plain skirt.  Cool Colour  I loved the colour. She jokes, "No animals were hurt making this outfit!"  When I asked her, "Can you show me the pattern on the shoes?" she obligingly swung her ankles over the arm of the adjacent chair.   I have several times tried to match up leopard skin patterns to make a complete outfit. On one occasion I managed to match two items but the third was with a different size of marking, and a different colour scheme. I had black markings on white in two items, but small print on the scarf and hat and large marking on the dress. Also I had but brown markings on cream in the hat and scarf, but black and grey on the dress. My friend 'C' has cleverly matched three items perfectly. What I like about Anthony Sicari outfits is that they are co-ordinated and usually have a scarf to match the skirt and top or dress which is very elegant and colourful. However you often see on ebay just a top, or the top and skirt without the scarf, which I presume has got separated over the years.  Most of the outfits are from the USA. Some are from people having a clear out, especially if they would rather wear the latest fashion. Other vintage outfits may be from people who are in their seventies who no longer need smart clothes, or have moved into a home, or their children are clearing out when parents are elderly or dead.  A few outfits come from second hand or charity shops.   I have been saving bolster cases for years. Not that I don't have bolsters. I have several. Some of the covers match nothing else. One of them matches a set of bedding. Two bolster cases match each other.  I was looking for a pillow case when I pulled out the bolster cases. I thought, that's one is pretty. Could I make a dress? I didn't have enough material. I would have to use another bolster as the dress back. I needed a second bolster cover in a similar fabric strength and sheen to the first. It must have similar colours, if not a similar pattern. I made up three matching sets from six bolster covers. But would I ever need those bolster covers? Maybe. I ought to change the bolster case patterns every month. Instead I left them neatly folded, not wanting to spoil them by using them.  Yes, I needed spare bolster cases.
