I thought that was a great idea, especiallhy when worn over black clothes. Then, close up, I relised that it was a trick of the light. The black was the top worn underneath. However, I had gained a new idea. To add a black lining to the collar, or to add a black contrast colour collar, to a brightly coloured green or red jacket. To make a jacket co-ordinating with a black top underneath, a whole black outfit, or black accessories.   The Marks & Spencer Jacket I bougtht the jacket because I wanted a long open ended zip to go on a long wrap around dressing gown without the garment gapping. I bought in a hurry. Only one pound. When I got it home I noticed it had a hood. My first thought was, that's handy, I've been looking online for hoods to add to some jackets and coats. I thought the jacket looked small.  In fact, when I tried it on it hugged me tight like underwear. This was good. It felt like a corset. The tight jacket worn over the too-long skirt, it helped keep the skirt up so that I didn't trip over it. However, my idea of cutting up the jacket went when I saw the label. Marks & Spencer. That's a brand I trust. Properly finished seams. No loose ends. Although one of a multi-pack set of underwear, the waist cotton pulled out.) But outer garments are always strongly made. The Black Jacket  The label is Yian Shang Yi.  This black jacket's distinctive design feature, the reason why I bought it, is that it has four bands of fake fur across both elbow areas. To me, in real life this jacket looks very elegant. To eliminate background clutter and distracting shapes and colours I have edited the picture with a lassoo in the editing function on my Samsung mobile phone. The Flowers I looked for something black to hold, thinking that black would be co-ordinating. But in a photograph black would disappear. So I am holding a vase containing white roses, and purple flowers I have not yet identified. The white roses were sent to my husband and me by family on our wedding anniversary. The glass vase shows the water level and colour which is a reminder to give the flowers fresh water every other day according to instructions. The flowers have no aroma. Photo by Angela Lansbury. I had been wearing a loose hooded jacket all the rainy season of winter and spring in the UK and Europe. Then the weather turned summy for five minutes. My husband frowned at my jacket. So I looked for a lighter jacket without a hood. I found a lightweight black jacket. It was short, waist length, small enough not to create a clutter or need hanging up. The brand label is Wallis Exclusive. Made in the UK. Dry Clean - Why? The label warns, dry clean only. Why? Because if the fabric shrinks in washing. Or the lining is a different fabric so when you wash it, the seams pucker, the item hands wrongly, it is too tight. Or the colours run. Or this happens on high heat and in case the person washing makes a mistake they will complain or be dis satisfied with the product. I think if I am very careful to wash on cold, the garment will stay the same colour and not shrink. I don't dry clean anything. I would wash it or rince it in cold water and hang it up to dry, ho...

  Selfie picture by Angela Lansbury.  Orange Top The orange top is a tee-shirt with a slogan which I am wearing back to front for the evening. The black sequin collar fastens with a hook and eye. I have a see-through plastic lidded box labelled bow ties and accessories. I had it at the top and had not looked inside it for months, years. I was looking for braces which I inherited from my late uncle Ronnie. I found the braces and a bonus, the black decorative collar and a black hair bow. Both dolled up my black cape blazer.  Black Evening Gloves I also had long black evening gloves. Normally, not much use except for fancy dress.  The gloves' original purpose was to create mystique. Gloves would keep you from touching hands with men, to avoid swapping sticky sweat, and germs, or showing too much flesh. Nowadays Covid-19 But an extra bonus. Warmth on summer nights, especially in air contiioning indoors, or cool evening breezes outdoors, on land, or by the swimming pool, ...

You can wear it with white for summer or snow. The black goes with evening clothes. Or winter. Or a funeral.  (Except in oriental countries which wear white for funerals.   Angela in the multi-colour and gold Asos blouse with a black cape blazer over a brown dress. Also in the picture her husband, the photographer, and wine educator, Trevor Sharot. This was the brown dress worn with a white jacket which I changed to a black jacket because I would be eating curry at an Indian restaurant. I was ready for a meal out at Muthu's Curry restaurant. Dress in brown, which I had put out the night before. I added sensible brown sandals for walking from the MRT station Little India to the restaurant, Muthu's Curry. I was glad we went out. Later we had to order curry via a delivery service. In Singapore that could be by foodpanda or ubereats.  Brown Sandals The brown sandals are by Josef Seibel, a German company.
