Showing posts with the label pink hat

Add ties to a summer hat. Dress post 758 by Angela Lansbury.

Image
This summer sun hat has a wide floppy brim. I sewed on pink ribbon to fasten the hat under my chin.  I had a choice of smart satin ribbon or matt tape-like ribbon. The satin would have suited smart, silky outfits. But I was planning a hiking holiday. With jeans and cotton clothes or stiff linen, the matt tape went better. Also it was a better match with the fabric and colour of the hat.# I sewed the ribbon onto the hatband where it joins the hat. I tried the hat on.  Both pieces were fixed equal distance from the label and any seams centre back.  then I noticed the information on the label. The hat was made in China. Not a surprise.  But it was a hat made from paper and bamboo.  Hat Size Select Hat size 57 cm. I buy hats which are sold off cheaply even if they are too small or large for me. I am prepared to take the trouble to alter them to fit. If the hat is too large, I can temporarily wear a scarf to keep a large hat in place. If the hat is too small, ...

Red Folding Hat. My favourite Foldable Hats - the advantages. Dress of the day 318.

Red foldable hat. Red hat folded. I have foldable hats in pink and red.  Avoid getting them wet and letting them stay wet. They have rigid support underneath and my pink one went mouldy.  I asked my Singaporean friend, Vicky, "What can I do?"  She said, "In Singapore it is so humid that everything goes mouldy. Let them dry in the sun." Useful Websites Red and three other colour from fitkicks, matching same brand shoes. About 30  dollars plus postage. Brand SKU. Dress of the Day, 282, Purely Purple, with pink hat. Tighten a waistband. Lengthen a skirt.

Image
Dress 282. Pink hat completes the look. Photo selfie by Angela Lansbury. Purple, soft, silk skirt, tightened and lengthened. Photo by Trevor Sharot. This lovely soft silk skirt had sat in the cupboard unworn. The size was 22. Huge. Even when I was huge, the skirt waist was too large. After a year's dieting, my waist was even smaller. The skirt waist size was ridiculous.  Could I cut the waistband, and all the way down the skirt, making the detached edges overlap? Would that risk a gap?  Whatever the result, currently the skirt was of no use, merely hanging up, taking space, but never worn. It might sit in the wardrobe forever, waiting to be inherited. Then the pristine garment might be thrown, discarded, in the bin, by descendants who wanted to do house clearance in a hurry.  My skirt deserved to be worn. The seamstress, who had spent hours making it, deserved to have their work not wasted.  I had lovely soft fabric. I had a gorgeous colour to match up. I had ...

262 The Red hat - and the orange, and pink and the purple

Image
Orange hat. Selfie photo by Angela Lansbury. I match the hat to my lipstick and outfit. The background is my green screen in the home office. The red hat. This is the first one I bought. Again, the contrast is a green screen backdrop. Here is is in orange. I was wearing it and plonked the big brim hat on top just to carry the bigger hat, but Liked the result. One hat, several impressions. I have this hat in red, orange, navy, and purple. First I bought the red. Then the orange. Then the yellow. Then the navy and purple. All elegant. Great purchases. The last one I bought was in pink and was not such a success. It had a  lurid shiny satin ribbon instead of vibrant but matt chiffon and was horrid. The fabric did not curve like rose petals. but sat in creases. The pink hat and the better purple one. Details of suppliers in previous posts.

Create a relaxed look. Dress of the night, pink delight. Dress number 205.

Image
Dress of the night, pink delight. Dress number 205.  The White Dress The rescued dress is white cotton with thin white muslin lining.  the embroidery is pink, green and orange shy satin stitching, pink net for the large flowers and pink sequins with tiny seed pearls in the middle. The dress has no maker's label nor sizing. It is to fit either for somebody much slimmer, and smaller, possibly a child. The zip does not do up at the back, but the waist tie holds it in place and the gap is hidden by the cape blazer, and leaves me cool. White Cape Blazer The white cape blazer has the label White Bird. The fabric is light, unlined. The size is large and it is a long way from meeting in the middle. I thought of adding white ribbons at breast or waist height to fasten it but I wore it a lot and it didn't slip off. The flat shoes are deep dusky pink and purple. The brand is Brevitt. Touch and close. The pink cup was a free gift when you bought two or four cartons of drink, before...
