Multi-colour Pearls, Necklace Prices & Wish Lists. Dress of the day 838 by Angela Lansbury.

Multi-colour pearls Very classy. Different. The wearer said she could not remember where they came from. Pearls, and mock pearls, can be the classic white, dark shiny grey, pale silvery grey, or dark pink. She was wearing matching single pearl ear-rings. A single one colour pearl. You can also buy ear rings in drop styles with pearls of two contrasting colours. Years ago, the late nineteen sixties, on a student trip to Japan, I bought a grey pearl bracelet on sale. At that time grey pearls were second class and unwanted by buyers, and cost less. Forty years later, the grey pearls were prized for being different, exclusive, and cost more. Then along came triple colours. Instead of boring plain white. A classic necklace can be all pearls evenly matched in size. Or very slightly different, from the smallest at the clasp, each slightly, imperceptibly different, with the largest hanging down at the centre Budget Buys In Necklaces If your heart is set on multicolour spherical bead neckl...

Phase Eight Dress In Dark Pink, How I enhanced It. Dress of the day number 815 by Angela Lansbury

Image
Phase Eight Today I received my dress and matching jacket from an Evri delivery driver. I took it out to show it to her. She immediately recognized the label. Phase Eight. She said, 'They used to be from Debenhams'.  The Phase Eight website tells me they are a British company. I looked at the dress style, fabric and manufacturer and washing instruction labels. The Pink Dress Information Made in China.  Size 14.  The colour is deep pink.  Silk Surprise To my surprise, it said silk. Not 100% silk. I remember when I was a teenager in the Nineteen Sixties, anything not one hundred per cent silk was regarded as a con, a cheap imitation.  Nowadays, in 2026, fifty years later, even a tiny amount of silk seems like luxury. A privilege. A joy. The lining is acetate. Inspection Feels very soft. It has a side zip. The zip is longer than the part which the manufacturer has allowed to open. The pattern is black and red flowers and leaves. Two shades of red, darker mat...

How to buy beautiful brooches and perfect pendants and check missing sizes online. Post 470

Pink mini-orchid necklace from eBay.  Photo by Angela Lansbury.  I bought a pink orchid necklace online from eBay. I thought it would be like other orchid necklaces and brooches from Singapore Value However, it was much smaller. Yes, I was initially disappointed. In terms of value, it was probably worth the price, but it was not the bargain I had imagined. The reason that other orchid brooches were dearer was that they were larger. However, if what I wanted  was some kind of pink pendant necklace to go with pink clothes, I had achieved my objective. The moral for you is this: When buying online, check the size  a of the object. If it is not stated, write and task the seller.  When selling, you should show the size. Various ways are used, to show the item against your fingertips, to show the item against a coin, to show the item against a ruler, ideally one marked in both centimetres and inches. How a green petticoat created a new outfit. Dress of the day 340

Image
Green petticoat from India. Selfie photo by Angela Lansbury.  How do you create a new outfit? Add a plain colour skirt, matching or co-ordinating. A cotton petticoat is as good as a skirt, in fact, better, if you want something loose and comfortable.   I ordered two of these petticoats from India, via ebay.com . One petticoat is in pale, lime green, which they call pista green presumably short for pistachio. The other one shown here is a darker green, which they call sea green. I am delighted with the result. I went back onto ebay.com and found my order under my ebay to give the seller my feedback. Petticoat fabrics and hems compared. Photo by Angela Lansbury. Fabric and Pleats The green petticoat ordered from India through ebay is in thicker cotton, with smaller pleats. The orange petticoat from  Mustapha is lighter cotton fabric with larger pleats. Waist Tie The orange petticoat from Mustafa's has a ribbon at the waist from the same fabric. The green pettico...

Washing, matching and shortening jewellery

Orange top and necklace.  I found discarded jewellery. You can buy jewellery online. Whether its new or second hand, somebody may have touched it. A second hand.Given Covid-19, I had to wash them before wearing them.  I wondered, I was going to write worried, but wondered is a friendlier word, I wondered, whether the water might rust metal, or remove colours. or float off a varnish or paint or covering.  But the items had cost me nothing. Cheap jewellery. Not gold or silver. Not valuable or fancy.  But to me an orange and red necklace, any piece of jewellery, provides a new look, a new inspiration. I looked for something in the same colour. I had several caftans with a red or orange background and flower pattern scattered about on the background with red or orange or pink in the flowers. But the necklaces and pendants looked wrong against patterns. The jewellery distracted from the fabric pattern. The fabric pattern distracted from the jewellery. I realized that stat...

O, oh, for an orange outfit with an outsize hat, over a cap, optimized by a found necklace - Dress 263

Angela's selfie. Photo by Trevor Sharot. The Delight Of Jolly Jewellery Oh - an orange necklace. I found necklaces which somebody else had wanted to throw away. Orange and red. And other discarded costume jewellery. Given Covid-19, I had to wash them before wearing them. Cheap jewellery. Not gold or silver. Not valuable or fancy. But to me an orange and red necklace, any piece of jewellery. provides a new look, a new inspiration. I found an orange top which I had worn before and was plain. It needed something to enhance the ordinary neckline. I tried on all the necklaces until I matched a necklace.  The orange top looked too loose. So I added a scarf as a tie belt to emphasize my waist. What about a skirt? Nothing too heavy with a light top, which was almost sleeveless. I added a lightweight black long slip.  Matching Jacket? Then I looked for a jacket to cover my arms. What went with orange? Not pink. My white one had temporarily disappeared. I saw the black. No. But I...
