How a green petticoat created a new outfit. Dress of the day 340

How do you create a new outfit? Add a plain colour skirt, matching or co-ordinating. A cotton petticoat is as good as a skirt, in fact, better, if you want something loose and comfortable. 

 I ordered two of these petticoats from India, via ebay.com . One petticoat is in pale, lime green, which they call pista green presumably short for pistachio. The other one shown here is a darker green, which they call sea green. I am delighted with the result.

I went back onto ebay.com and found my order under my ebay to give the seller my feedback.

Fabric and Pleats
The green petticoat ordered from India through ebay is in thicker cotton, with smaller pleats. The orange petticoat from
 Mustapha is lighter cotton fabric with larger pleats.

Waist Tie


The orange petticoat from Mustafa's has a ribbon at the waist from the same fabric. The green petticoat from India has a white plated cotton rope with frayed ends. You won't see that under clothes because  I will pull my top over the waist of the petticoat. However, I shall use nail varnish, clear nail varnish, to seal the ends. 

Accessory - Necklace
The necklace is long. I doubled it into a double loop. It just went over my head, when I removed my spectacles. But when I took off the long necklace, I discovered a U shape hook clasp!

I thought the necklace would be irritating to the skin of my neck, so I pulled through it the collar of my top. 

That action also had the advantage of holding together what would otherwise have been a loose V-neck, inclined to slip sideways and look lop-sided. A double benefit.

    Sweater embroidered with mock pearls matches my hat pinned with mock pearl brooches.  I had never worn this pale grey sweater  I thought pale grey was a boring colour and always opted for something brighter such as royal blue or bight red. Stripey Red & White Socks, thigh high, and tights - outfit 679 by Angela Lansbury

  I bought a pair of knee high red and white stripe socks in St Luke's charity shop. At one pound or under, you can't lose much. (Their charity fundraising shops are in NW London in Hatch End, Harrow Weald and elsewhere.) Why did I buy the long socks, in hard to match, garish, childish, stripes - after hesitation and consideration? The Advantages Of Long Socks The  length was attractive, at this time of year. I often need long socks under a midi skirt. For warmth in winter. And not to show bit of bare legs above socks. To co-ordinate colours. Advantages and Disadvantages of Red and White Stripes I like red. It's fun. White can show dirt quickly.  Red and white is a bit restrictive. It will clash with patterns, only go with plain reds and whites. But under a table at dinner or on Zoom nobody else will notice. Nor will I. I will only feel them.
