 The Green Next top The sleeves are a light 100% cotton. Sleeve Buttons Ten little buttons on each sleeve. That's twenty on the sleeves alone. Neck Buttons Eight buttons on the neck. Total 28 buttons. The ones on the neck have button holes. The ones on the neck are decorative. Size 16. The top is comfortable because of the wide arms, which are thin cotton, but narrow to knitted cuffs elegantly fastened with numrous small green buttons.

  Anthony Sicari Black And White Jacket The jolly jacket is a vintage item. The label reveals that it is from Anthony Sicari, one of my three vintage favourites. (Anthony Sicari, Ann Balon and Indigo Moon. Plus, Marks and Spencer, for both modern and vintage clothes.) But Anthony Sicari has two or three collections. I have some saying Anthony Sicari Evening. This item has a label saying Anthony Sicari New York.  Sicari is Italian for a sword, dagger or similar slicing knife. How To Identify Vintage Clothes Often the name of the manufacturer on the label tells you. The label on the back of the neck of a blouse or jacket, or the back of the waist on a skirt. If that has been cut off, you might find a washing instruction label on the inside seam of a shirt or skirt with the company name small at the end. You might guess this jacket's era from the padded shoulders.   The Brass Buttons I thought it had four buttons. Metal buttons. They are probably brass buttons, I guesse...

  Yellow adds a pop of colour to a summer outfit. Especially if you have bonde, white or streaky hair. The Light Yellow Colour Top I love the light, bright colour. It really would go well with green Small Size Top - Solutions The yellow top seemed too small. Tight on the bust and body. Tight on the upper arms. However, I put it on. I have managed to wear it all day. I wondered whether wearing it five minutes every day would gradually stretch it.  Cotton-Elastane Fabric The fabric is 96% cotton but only 4% elastane. Amazing that such a small amount of elastane makes such a lot of stretch.  What else? wash at 40 degrees. Iron on setting one, which is cool. No bleach, no dry cleaning, no tumble drying. I bought a tarten pair of pyjamas in a red and black and white pattern. Label Senza Sleepwear. Angela Lansbury wearing a red, white and black pyjama set by label Senza. Then I bought a similar patterned shirt by label Shein.  Angela Lansbury wearing the Shein shirt. Why buy another garment so similar? Well, one was pyjamas, the other a shirt, or blouse. One day I was rushing to an appointment when I accidentally put on the pyjama top instead of the blouse!  They looked so similar, I don't suppose anybody noticed. I had a jacket on top most of the day. I felt happy.  The only difference was that the pyjama top had an open neck.  It looked so similar that I don't think anybody except me would have known the difference. The pyjama top felt and looked better. It is in a soft fabric, loose and comfortable.  It goes with a black skirt, a perfect match. It is an alternative to wear if I am washing the shirt by hand overnight and it is not yet dry next morning.. In fact...

She said that the more expensive cottons are waxed so that the fine threads bind together.  I had previously thought that the thread on the wooden spools was more expensive because of the cost of the spool. Now I realise that threads are not all the same quality.  Thread Monthly I just found a really handy guide to different types of thread. From Threadsmonthly. Beeswax - Threading Needles They suggested that if the end of your thread is fraying, so that you cannot thread a needle, you run the end of the thread through beeswax. That is really handy.  I had a pot of beeswax and did not know why I had it or what I was supposed to do with it. If you cannot get the fraying end of your thread through the small head of a small needle, you can switch to a smaller needle, but that might make large holes...

 I had a lovely white blouse, elegant evening wear. The buttons were gleaming, with central diamonte, gold colour edge, soothing circular buttons. Dress of the day and dressy for the evening. I bought it from a now gone shop in Hatch End high street (Americans say main street) in London, England. I tried on every white blouse in the shop, until reluctantly paying for the high price blouse, which outclassed the others as well as fitting me and suiting me. It would go well with a long black skirt for evening wear. Because it was so expensive, it sat unworn in my cupboard for weeks, months, years.   Laundry bag from China. Photo by Angela Lansbury. Laundry Bag Styles I am looking for a laundry bag, a hanging laundry bag. I don't have room for anything freestanding. I already have two which need replacing.   The Basic Bag The dark, navy blue one came from IKEA. A dark colour doesn't show the dirt. In fact, the reverse, the blue has worn off revealing the white cloth. I could dye the bag, or conceal the pale patches with felt tip pen in navy. The bag was hanging from an almost oblong frame. How could I upgrade it temporarily? I had lots of leftover table napkins and antimacassars from my late parents, my uncle, the old lady from whom I bought a flat. A blue item could hang over the patch so the room looked good at a quick glance. Wording - Instructions Some bags just have the word laundry. Our bag had the message,  1 Fill bag.  2 Give to Mum. (Eyelet dresses used to be called broderie anglaise. Once folksy, now fashionable. In the old days only white, now also in black and all kinds of colours.) What did I want? Preferably not white, because I already have one in white and would like a change. I bid on this attractive lime green. I won the bidding at only five pounds but the postage was over three so the total was about eight pounds. Still a bargain. The dress price ticket said twenty pounds! As the old saying goes, you win some, you lose some. This is one that I won, in both senses of the word. I won the auction. I won a bargain. The Dress Brand & Label The neck label says Made in Italy. When I was a teenager in the late 1960s, I went on a holiday with a fellow student to Greece, Turkey and Israel. I travelled in a bikini. It acted as bra and pants. I showered in it. I swam in it. No need to undress. After the swim, we would sit in the sun. The bikini was cotton and dried quickly.  In countries requiring a one piece costume, you need another solution. Something discreet.  1The solution is to have a large towel which somebody else, family or friend, can hold. 2 If you are alone, you could change behind a large umbrella. 3A wrap around skirt is another solution. 4 Or a wrap around dress. 5 Or a sarong. When I was a teenager in the England in the UK in nineteen sixties in summer we wore or bought broderie Anglaise (now known as eyelet), which was always in fresh white.  Now in the 2020s (writing in June 2022) the colourful Asian countries have impressed us with the fashion of eyelet garments in all colours.  Red, orange, yellow, dark green, black. White eyelet outfits can be enhanced by white nail varnish and white toe nail varnish with white sandals or open toe shoes. Where did you get that dress?  In Holland Village, Singapore, near the exit from the MRT railway station, is an indoor shopping mall with a large supermarket on the ground floor, (called first), and upstairs on the first floor (called second) are the toilets and a furniture and gift shop and a large dress shop called Lim's, my favourite. Toilets Many restaurants in Singapore have to public toilets, or have just one cubicle which seems to be permanently under renovation. So it's handy to know the location of the public toilets. ) Other toilets in Holland village are in the undercover hawker center. I knew from previous experience that the big Lim's always has a sale rail, at one side.
