Your Large Scarf Or Tee-shirt Could Act As An Emergency Sling Or Clothing 515

Image
I broke my clavicle in a car accident. The hospital gave me a large triangle of cream colour cloth to tie around my neck as a sling. One evening I want out with a scarf and wanted to wear it draped over the sling to hide it. Then I thought I could use it as a decorative outer piece, with the hospital;s scarf underneath like a lining. Then I realised the scarf was strong enough to bear the weight of my arm without the hospital's cloth. In an emergency, to protect your arm, or somebody else's, you might need to create a sling, or some kind of bandage.  A large scarf or sarong would be very handy. Using a pair of scissors, and a needle and thread, (both in some small sewing kits) you could create a sling, a headscarf, a head bandage, a headband, a swimming cap, a mask, even a bandeau top and a pairt of shorts or swimming trunks. A poncho, with a t shape cut in the middle, is easy and quick to make. Several videos on YouTube show you what to do. I have saved some of my favourite ...

Sofia's Sarong For the Swimming Pool, or beach, with beautiful butterflies from Indonesia, and beautiful big butterfly print from Shein

A large scarf makes a swimming pool or beach sarong. You just tie a double knot. The fabric has to be strong enough not to tear, but thin enough to tie a double knot which will hold. A thin. strong cotton will do, or a large oblong sold as a sarong. Sofia in a sarong from Indonesia. Photo by Angela Lansbury.Copyright. I was taken by this lovely lime green sarong. It has a fringed edge. The pattern is butterflies. I call this colour lime.  See later post on the colour lime. Do you like butterflies? Do you like butterflies as a pattern on fabric and paper? The butterfly has been chosen as the new symbol of Costa Rica. Useful Websites One big butterfly when you spread your arms wide, but only then. 12.25, from Shein. Good value. Unusual. Curved edge. https://sg.shein.com/Butterfly-Print-Tassel-Trim-Cover-Up-Skirt-p-12445819-cat-2176.html?src_identifier=st%3D2%60sc%3Dsarong%60sr%3D0%60ps%3D1&src_module=search&src_tab_page_id=page_goods_detail1681133054162&mallCode=1 h...

The difference between a sarong and a kebaya - my new sarong skirt, dress of the day 505

Image
Angela Lansbury wearing a sarong from Indonesia. Photo by Trevor Sharot. What is the difference between a sarong and a kebaya? A sarong sounds simpler, like a large sash, or something loose you wind around yourself, like a shorter version of a saree. A large beach scarf? Close in meaning.  Singaporean Kabayas  In Singapore you can see and buy fitted dresses or matching bodices and skirts called kebayas. Sometimes also called sarong kebayas. The Singapore Airlines air hostesses wear kebayas. Indonesian Sarongs In Indonesia the temples ask men and women who arrive in shorts to cover their legs. At the outside entrance to the temples and sellers of sarongs. A sarong is seamed up vertically so it cannot come apart revealing your legs. It might be called a tube sarong. Unlike a wrap skirt. The cost is quite modest. The pattern might be repeated.  Patterns My husband bought one in brown effect. I prefer lively red colour clothing to boring brown.  I prefer curves to geomet...
