Dress Of The Day with Angela

 I was walking around a supermarket looking for a handbag to match my dress. No luck. I saw a towel. Wrong colour and fabric. Then I saw the perfect item. I rushed over and picked it up. Perfect. Except that it was a cushion cover. I thought, that is such a lovely fabric. What a pity they don't just add a strap. It would make a lovely gag. Then I had second thoughts. Why don't I do that. The price of the cushion cover was no more than a bag. I bought it. I recently discovered a discarded square padded item with a slit on one side which I envisaged could probably have been a cushion cover or  possibly a pillow case. All I needed was a strap to make it into a shoulder bag. I could add a wide ribbon which I had saved from the box of a birthday cake at an event (a Toastmasters International meeting). Two for the price of one.  Matching Scarf The matching scarf has fringes on the short ends. I used the scarf as a belt to shorten the dress. The dress seemed too long. I needed it to be shorter on public transport and when walking to be sure of not tripping over. I also wanted to avoid getting the hem dirty.  The scarf pattern matches only one side of the dress, although the colour matches both sides. The scarf matches this side which is my favourite.  If I were making a reversible dress, I would make a reversible scarf from the same two dress fabrics sewn back to back. Would that make it too heavy? I can try out this idea, by pinning together two similar scarves and check the effect. I used to look on eBay for reversible dresses.   On ebay and Amazon. The brand leader are Crocs. I have a second hand pair of Crocs in yellow. The real deal - Crocs. You can wear the strap at the front or at the back. It rotates on a circular fixing. The Yellow Sandals In this picture I have matched up the yellow shoes with a yellow swimming ring. I found them abandoned. I washed them off. Because they were dirty. And somebody else had worn them. This was before Covid-19. For several months I did not wear them. They looked big and clonky. Then my other shoes were wet. So I tried them on. The Crocs soon became a regular alternative shoe, until they became my everyday shoes. I wear my yellow shoes all day indoors around the home. The shoes, or rather, sandals, look rather clompy with smart clothes. However, they are comfortable and quick to put on and off for photos or when jumping into the shower to cool down in Singapore.
