(I thought he would say, because blue is my favourite colour, or, it matches my suit.) He replied, "It's my favourite." I persisted, "Why do you like it?" He answered, "Because I painted the stripes on myself." H & M The label on the tie reads H & M. The H & M company is huge. They started in Sweden. The H stood for hennes, meaning her, in Swedish. Pink is the modern colour for girls. Pink for girls and blue for boys. I read that the Victorians originally used the reverse colours.  Previously, pink was considered unsuitable for men. Then it became trendy. Queen Victoria made white wedding dresses popular. But the Chinese think red is lucky.  The Indians wear white for purity when burying the dead. They, too, would opt for a bright colour instead. Is pink the colour for romance, hearts for single hopeful women, dates for the single and date nights for the married. I replied, "Yes, it's called a cape blazer, or a cape jacket or a cape.  I like it because it can button across the front, or swing at the back, and cover what I wear underneath. See also post 521, I picked this up off my sewing table where I had left it for further sewing and maybe cutting. I previously had safety pins across the top. this time I added two new features The Neck Slit I simply cut a vertical slit half way along the fabric neckline for the front of the neck. The main reason is that the horizontal line rubbed uncomfortably against my neck. I could prevent this happening by adding ribbon across the middle of the top of the fabric to make the horizontal line an inch or two lower. However, making a cut was an instant, quick solution. I used pinking sheers. Besides, I thought it added interest. It made the outfit look more like a shaped dress and less like two bits of oblong fabric. To keep the two cut pieces folded down, I could sew on two small shirt buttons, or two fancy buttons, in black, white, brown, red, blue or gold. The ...

Vintage. Never worn. Now was its day. How to fill in underneath? I had a pale green shirt, a man's shirt from Marks & Spencers, discarded by my husband. Shoes - not my usual red shoes. My husband hates Crocs and big toe shoes. He prefers high heels, elegant shoes. Sorry, I had a fancy pair of multi coloured shoes, but I was already falling off the heels the moment I tried them on.   Photo by Angela Lansbury The Blue Blouse It's a short sleeved blouse. I used think that short-sleeved blouses looked cheap. Like both the buyer and manufacturer were short of money. Cheap uniforms for shop girls. However, the pattern is irresistible.  The weather is hot. The blue looks cool. The green is fresh and suggests shade. The blouse goes perfectly over the sleeveless turquoise dress. The dress is a mystery. No label. However, I have a similar  slip, or dress, turquoise, rough fabric, single thickness, with spaghetti straps, label Karen Millen England. Size 12. Made in China. This close-up has some advantages. It shows my blue eyes matching the jacket. It shows the teeny blue heart matching the jacket. However, I also wanted a distant shot to show the whole outfit, head to toe, or at least from the ankles, or calves, or hips, or at least from the hem of the jacket. So I set the camera up on a window ledge. Indoors -Adjusting the camera Stand your mobile phone on a worktop such as a kitchen peninsular unit which is high. You might need a box or large, firm device to raise the height of the camera. Or hang the camera over something, with a towel underneath in case it falls off. I bought a phone with a cover which has a square ring in the centre of the back. You have to adjust the angle of the ring so that you can see yourself head to toe, unless you want a waist up or hea...

Broderie anglaise, no, not in my opinion, because that has round eyelets, each one edged with blanket stitch.  The pattern runs up and down, which is subtly slimming.  The fabric is firm, almost like furniture covering, stiff. The washing label says 100% polyester. Unbranded dress. A mystery. Made in Romania. Pencil style skirt. Size ten. Slightly small for me. Does make me look young and trendy.  I should pair it up with a blue hat. For the total look. Or match all the accessories in a contrast colour such as red, or white. However, I am happy with it as it is, with no distractions. Maybe an umbrella best suited to the males in my family. That's handy. Umbrella Colours I was searching for a cheap pink umbrella to go with my pink clothes. I saw this bundle of three on eBay and bought it. Optical Illusion Of Shapes This umbrella appears to be convex, a bowl. (I used to muddle up concave and convex. Then I realized concave is like a cave or bowl. Convex is the other way around.) On eBay the colours of the umbrellas were described as blue, pink and lilac. The pictures certainly showed those colours. Bright jolly colours. You can imagine my disappointment and surprise when I received umbrellas which looked like murky orange, light grey and dirty dark grey. (The American spelling is gray.) Buying Bundles I bought the yellow eyelet top  (in the previous post) on eBay as part of a bundle of three tops. A bundle is a group of items from the same seller. Not the same as a matching set which has the same colours and fabrics.  The other items included a blue Peaclocks label, also size 16, which was the key item which made me buy.  The blue top has eyelets all over, which show at the neck, but no fancy hem.  The third top included in the bundle is a white - I already have white tops. A bonus. Not needed. But a bonus. The white is by George and has a plain neck - but a fancy hem which would show when I am standing, or walking, when worn over and against a darker coloured skirt.    Size 16 Size sixteen is large. Large sizes are loose on me.  Why wear a belt? The belt is not holding the garment up (as on trousers and skirts). A belt on a dress or top can draw in the waist.
