 I was looking for something summery and light to wear when giving a speech to Harrovians Speakers Club in London. Not red - too hot. Warm orange.  My basic piece was my colourful skirt. I love the colours, the flowiness, the feeling of luxury. The Silk Skirt, Multi-colour Light weight. Pure silk. Label Patra. UK. Half length black underskirt.  Patra Skirt Style Cut diagonally in forward slash and backlash in several pieces. Blows upwards in the wind Patra Skirt Pattern Black background. Large  sand smaller white moon shapes  on a stalk with a leaf.  Small disc shapes like baĺloons on teeny curved green stalks. Some are dark orange. . The others are pale salmon pink.   Temu Ladies Clothes Sets I spent hours looking at different sets, styles, colours. For my summer holiday, holidays, this year, next year, forever. What I was originally looking for was this, a long dress with a long matching coat, to make me look co-ordinated, elegant. And taller. Jacket Length Thickness and Weight I knew from previous experience that short jackets would be matching fabric to the dress. The long jackets, however were not even as thick as duster coats, but an ultra-thin, almost see-through fabric. Never mind. The sleeves are too long. That leaves me with several options. The simplest and quickest is to turn them back into a cuff. I like the jacket left open. It shows the lively pattern of the dress. The name of the ski resort is embroidered in orange. Above are mountain peaks outlined in white. Also in white is the height of the mountains, 3330 metres. Why do I need to know the height? Is that very high? My search question produced an AI answer which was a copy of an opening paragrph froom Wikipedia - 'altitude, as Alpe d'Huez's  Pic Blanc  summit at this height makes it one of the highest points in France and a reliable source of snow for its long ski season.  For context, this altitude is higher than the summit of the  Eiffel Tower  (about 300 meters) and most of the highest peaks in the British Isles, such as  Ben Nevis  (1,345 meters).'   From ebay, so second hand. No label. Maybe Jacques Vert?  First Impression - Feel The Fabric The dress and matching scarf are silky. So far so good. The coat is polyester and feels slightly rough. I was a bit worried when I opened the delivery package and felt it. However, when you are dressed, the silk dress is next to your skin.  The dress is short sleeved. When you get hot, or sit down to dinner you might remove the coat. You could wear a silk vest or blouse with long sleeves under the coat to keep your arms against the smooth fabric.  I wear a long black waist slip as well, from Marks & Spencer. I have been wearing this for years.  The Washing Label The washing label says size 12. Hand wash at 30 degrees. Iron low, on one. 100% polyester. Made in UK. Firstly it was in my latest favourite colour, orange. The orange colour, with pink, has taken over from red as my favourite colour. A second attraction was that the dress had my favourite broderie anglaise on the hem. Taking photos of oneself is a useful exercise. The bad photos are as useful as the good ones. Bad photos warn you of what needs fixing. I can see from this photo that the black underslip or black leggings show through the broderie anglaise. Instead of intensifying the orange colour, the black makes it look murky, dirty, dusty. White or orange would be better. Anyway, the dress was a success. Alongside the orange roses, still out at the end of November and the start of December In London.   2 The orange and black dress with Bolero top I chose this on colour. I really wanted a long jacket, but that was not available in my chosen colour at the budget price.  When it arrived, the jacket looked crumpled and creased However, it looked okay when I tried on the outfit.  The label says cool wash, stretchy and all that. Good enough. The colour was great. Bright. vivid. A change from my usual red. But still a warm colour. Because the dress base colour is black, I can match it with lots of jackets and variations. Unlike plain balack, it does not look funereal. Nor am I outshone by some young thing dressed head to tow in a bright colour. Next posts are about the Temu Turquoise Outfit and the pale blue.

The buttons on the blouse show through the thin dress. How can I hide the bumps of the buttons? I must find a vest to wear on top of the blouse, but one which does not show at the neck and arms, maybe a camisole. A tie worn inside or outside the dress, so long as it is on top of the blouse, could also work.  I hope it shows only in the static photo. Nobody would notice when I am sitting down with a handbag or clipboard or notebook on my lap, and a jacket. Nor would anybody notice when I am leaping around on stage when you are watching the gestures of my arms or hands, and the expressions on my face.  I admired this tote bag carried by my good friend, who goes my the name of Dearmcatcher. Her bag is the brand Kate Spade, New York. the bag is a clean cream colour, with a pattern of red and orange charries, so it can go with many colours. She said it was a very reasonable price. Strange. When I went online all the bags of this brand were around 100 sing dollars. One  see something you like at a reasonable price, buy it.

See also post 521, I picked this up off my sewing table where I had left it for further sewing and maybe cutting. I previously had safety pins across the top. this time I added two new features The Neck Slit I simply cut a vertical slit half way along the fabric neckline for the front of the neck. The main reason is that the horizontal line rubbed uncomfortably against my neck. I could prevent this happening by adding ribbon across the middle of the top of the fabric to make the horizontal line an inch or two lower. However, making a cut was an instant, quick solution. I used pinking sheers. Besides, I thought it added interest. It made the outfit look more like a shaped dress and less like two bits of oblong fabric.   Orange collar adds colour. Photo by Angela Lansbury. I was looking for something warm to wear in London. The clothes I wear in London are different to what I wear in Singapore. I started with a black knitted cardigan which had two long collar tails, which I looped into a tie. Underneath I wore a warm, white jumper.  I needed neck interest for appearing in photos and on Zoom at meetings of Toastmasters International. In London, UK, Harrovians club meets online on a Monday, in person at a church on another Monday. So I added the orange blouse. Just the collar showed. I did not need more. That was fine. The collar added colour, warm colour, vivid, transforming me from dull to vivacious, and framed my face. British Home stores used to be like Marks & Spencer but cheaper. Clothes, bedding, lamps and household items. Skirt The skirt is created or converted from a pair of trousers (Americans say pants) slit up the centre seam and rotated  so that the slits are at the sides. I looked for a blank wall in the kitchen. My first thought was to avoid the red pattern on the blind on the door which I thought would be a distraction and a clash of colour. However, my husband said it looked jolly. Therefore, afterwards I made a point of being photographed next to it. With red lipstick and red shoes I would always co-ordinate with the blind. On my Samsung mobile phone I used the photo editing app to pasteurize. The white circle echoing the orange parasol worked well. The Tee-Shirt The tee-shirt is the basis of this outfit. I chose the orange skirt to match it. I could have chosen black or white. But I wanted something bright and jolly. The mouth of the character is a bow. The ears are applique, added, standing out from the base fabric. I cannot find it online. A lot of people just wear tee-shirts with jeans, when they could get many more outfits from one tee-shirt. A skirt in a bright colour lift the outfit. Warmth of red or orange in the skirt to contrast with and compliment and complement the green. Then I remembered to record the labels. Where did you get that dress?  In Holland Village, Singapore, near the exit from the MRT railway station, is an indoor shopping mall with a large supermarket on the ground floor, (called first), and upstairs on the first floor (called second) are the toilets and a furniture and gift shop and a large dress shop called Lim's, my favourite. Toilets Many restaurants in Singapore have to public toilets, or have just one cubicle which seems to be permanently under renovation. So it's handy to know the location of the public toilets. ) Other toilets in Holland village are in the undercover hawker center. I knew from previous experience that the big Lim's always has a sale rail, at one side. I needed protection from the sun in Singapore. I swim regularly.  I found what I wanted on websites using the words Muslim and modest swimsuit and two and three piece. This swimsuit came with leg coverings and a head piece. The whole outfit was overwhelming. It made me look like a robot and felt heavy.  However, months later, I eventually realized that I could wear the top half with black bikini bottoms from another swimsuit. I also cut in half a one piece suit. I had cut it in half because it had a back which was too low. The cut off half lower half, worn alone, fitted well enough around the waist.  Skirt Tie Down Ribbons The top piece comes with two black tubular ribbons of the same fabric which are attached inside at waist level.
