I used to think that short skirts were only suitable for teenagers and young girls with spindly legs, singles out to attract someone to turn them into a couple. Age, shape, sex appeal - it seemed to me skater dresses were overtly sexy. Now I think otherwise. I tried on this little outfit and was amazed that it suited me so well. I felt like a dancer. I felt flirty. If felt it was fun. I felt I looked young. I felt young. I thought I looked svelte. Neat. Nice and normal. Free to move unimpeded by swathes of cloth. Less material to buy if you are into DIY clothes. When I am in a shop inspecting dresses and skirts, I shall no longer push past the short skirts, flip them aside.   Are there any disadvantages to my dress? I cannot buy another like it. It has no label. The background colour is cream. So you cannot wear it with white which would look less finished, less co-ordinated. My skater dress has short sleev...

  I am wearing a white dickey (a decorative collar without any shirt, just a shirt front). The dickey has buttons which enable me to pin on the napkin to the top button. An alternative would be a brooch or pendant with a chain so you can tuck in the napkin. Whenever I dress for a dinner out, especially in summer and light evenings, I look for something light, a change from the funeral blacks of winter. But I then consider that I might stain my lovely outfit with food.  I don't want to have clothes hung up and never worn. What a waste of money - and wardrobe space. (Americans say closet.) You can buy two white dinner napkins for just under 15 collars (plus postage) from Etsy from suppliers in the USA. Others on Etsy offer sets of six at proportional prices.   The saying goes, if you've got it, flaunt it. See later post on using trophies as props. We took these out of the glass fronted cabinet because light was reflecting on the glass. These large trophies belong to Braddell Heights Advanced Club. I gathered the trophies together at the request of club President Sdddiq who wanted records of the latest trophies to put on the club website on Facebook. 

  Dress of the day 186. Smile with Angela. Burgundy wine colour jacket, and wine colour button-front, semi-see-through scarf.  I love button-front scarves. They look like elegant jackets. They don't slip off.  I bought one expensive one in silk at the Botanical gardens shop. Then I found these cheap chiffon ones from China on the internet.  You could buy two and add three pearl buttons on the front, fasteneed with a ribbon loop. Add three more at the back to look elegant and keep it in place.  You really need large scarves. Mine measures, each scarf 19 inches wide. I took the scarf off to look at it.  The buttons are not attached by buttonholes nor ribbons. No need to go to the trouble of either. They are fixed with a back fastening stud. You can buy sets to do this, but they may be heavy for a light fabric.  An alternative would be a magnetic button. Or tie pins. Comments and captions please.   Pink shoes.  Pink lipstick. YSL. (Yves Saint Laurent.) Rouge Pur, number 49.  For the perfect picture, you can buy flowers to match your best dress, or find a favourite dress to match the flowers. The flowers were Maria pink roses, with light pink geraniums, giant pink lilies, and tall pink snapdragons. Dress 168 is the same style, with the same border. Both bought or made in India, according to the label. Dress 168 is a thick and stiff fabric, altogether classier. This one if flimsy and frays easily, but light to wear, very comfortable. The label says Purple Skies. What could you copy about this design in a home made dress? Pink Colours Pinks vary from pale to intense fuschia. What suits you may depend on your skin colour. If you are Caucasian, a sun tan means you might suit a darker pink. Or your eye colour. Pink cotton suits the beach. Shiny pink satin is good for the evening.
