Fun fascinator DIY from a placemat, plus half hats, and halo hats

What is a fascinator?  A hat which fascinates. Sometimes with a bobbing feather.  Often diagonal. Or off centre. I was trying not to say lop-sided or askew.  A fasinator is not a whole head-covering hat, but a little attention-getting decoration on the top of the head. You anchor it with an anchor such as a stiff headband.  it adds interest. And height.  Colour And colour. Or co-ordinating colour.  Cost A new one can be quite expensive. I bought one from Marks & Spencers. I though it was expensive for what it was. However, it was cheaper than any of the full size hats, most of which hid half my face, and covered my eyes, making it hard to see or be seen. It is hard to find a fascinator to co-ordinate with an outfit. Unless you have it made when you have a dress made for the bride, mother of the bride or mother of the groom, or bridesmaid.  I wore one as mother of the groom at our son's wedding in the UK.
