A Pyjama Top Converted Into A blouse: dress of the day 514

Image
I bought a tarten pair of pyjamas in a red and black and white pattern. Label Senza Sleepwear. Angela Lansbury wearing a red, white and black pyjama set by label Senza. Then I bought a similar patterned shirt by label Shein.  Angela Lansbury wearing the Shein shirt. Why buy another garment so similar? Well, one was pyjamas, the other a shirt, or blouse. One day I was rushing to an appointment when I accidentally put on the pyjama top instead of the blouse!  They looked so similar, I don't suppose anybody noticed. I had a jacket on top most of the day. I felt happy.  The only difference was that the pyjama top had an open neck.  It looked so similar that I don't think anybody except me would have known the difference. The pyjama top felt and looked better. It is in a soft fabric, loose and comfortable.  It goes with a black skirt, a perfect match. It is an alternative to wear if I am washing the shirt by hand overnight and it is not yet dry next morning.. In fact...

Marks & Spencer coat reversed Post 409

Image
Angela Lansbury wearing a black Marks & Spencer coat reversed. Photo by Trevor Sharot. The magenta lining was such a pretty colour that I preferred it to the black outside. If a coat has a label at the neck which shows, or one on the side seam, you could either cut it off or cover it with black ribbon sewn on. Some people, such as the royal family, are reputed to always include a funeral outfit in their packing in case it is needed. (I always pack a swimsuit, so as not to miss out, and an evening outfit, in case I get invited to a party or wedding or smart restaurant for dinner.) An alternative is to have a reversible coat or jacket. Useful Websites https://www.marksandspencer.com/ Please share links to your favourite posts.

Red cape blazer, from Shein, outfit (dress of the day) 479

Image
From Shein: Angela Lansbury is wearing a red cape blazer. Selfie photo by Angela Lansbury. Copyright. Red Cape Blazer  The fabric meets all the way across to button up. It has two large central buttons. No spare button. The collar is lined. The lining goes down the front under the buttons and buttonholes. The shoulders are padded.   The two deep flaps are false pockets.  The narrow neck label with the name Shein is sewn at the edges left and right only, so it could be used as a hanging loop. However, given the creasing, I would hang it on a hanger. Style  This really is a cape. The sleeve is the edge of the cape, sewn down across the front of the shoulder. (Unlike my other jackets,  97% polyester, 3 % elastane. Creases badly. But I like it. The vibrant red seems to glow. My white nail varnish looks terrific against the red. Size Size M. EU 38. US 6. Made in China.  White Nail Varnish White nail varnish from Tesco Express was only about 2.50 GDP (Grea...

How to tidy the drawers in your drawers using tissue (Kleenex) boxes or small paper tote bags

Image
I was thinking that what I really needed for my birthday was not more clothes but more drawer organizers.  Commercial Drawer Dividers I used to have drawer organizers which I bought in the USA. They were in the top drawer of my bedside cabinet. They consisted of strips of thick card, with half height slits at intervals. You interlaced the verticals and horizontals to make a checkerboard grid. This had two problems. The spaces were small, suitable for hair clips but not larger items. I did not think of using only every other slat, and then having larger compartments and enough dividers for two drawers. Because there was no base, small items kept sliding underneath. As a result, the dividing strips bent out of shape. Eventually they became a nuisance. I threw them away. I rescued them, folded them flat, and pushed them under the bed. I don't know where they are now. Meanwhile, what can I do to copy the idea of dividing up drawers with thick card? I was thinking, a shoe box wou...

How To Choose A Swimsuit, One Piece, 2 or 3 Separate Pieces? Short or long sleeves and Legs? To Zip Or not? Black and pink swimsuit with pink stripe, dress of the day 297.

Angela Lansbury in top half of long-sleeved, skirted, two-piece swimsuit, black with pink horizontal stripe. Dress of the day 297. Photo by Trevor Sharot..  The pink does not go with my Crocs. It will have to do. I chose a base colour of black because I thought it would be easier to match up with accessories. I already have an orange swimsuit and want to alternate them when one is wet. And it's more fun to have two than wear the same thing all the time. Today I did another search and realised why I chose this design. I wanted the top and shorts or trousers separate. If the trousers were too tight, the top might still fit. It the top was long or short for my torso, never mind, that would not affect the position of the crotch. I was not thrilled with the fabric. It is that modern this stuff they cut with scissors instead of needing to hem. I looked at the fabric specifications. Elastane, basically elastic, okay.  I bought through ebay which is not as easy for me to use wh...
