Storing Old Clothes in the Old Days  In the good old days people used to store their winter clothes in a suitcase in the loft or attic in winter. The reverse took place in summer.  Storing Items In Garages Nowadays we recycle and collect clutter. Only a quarter of UK garages are used to store cars. Now cars are left in the front forecourt, and garages are used for storage, clothes, accessories, bric a brac. You need to keep moving clothes. Why? To be sure that moths get disturbed. Also so that the clothes do not get mouldy from damp. (American spelling moldy.) Avoiding Impulse Purchases I try not to go shopping for food. I postpone my trips to Tesco supermarket because it is right near a charity shop. If I shop for food, it is better to go out after the charity shop has closed.  Home Shopping The Americans have home shopping channels. You see items being demonstrated on TV and you buy them from home.  Of course you can sit at your desk and order online.  But wha...

Princess Style Polkadot blouse in red with a red chiffon overlay blouse, dress of the day, and evening, dress 417

Princess Diana wore a polkadot dress which was admired - and set the fashion. So did Kate. I picked out of my wardrobe (Americans say closet) a red polkadot blouse for day wear to a conference. Selfie by Angela Lansbury. The red colour was jolly. Red cheered me up. Red invigorated me after I had been feeling tired. To go with it, my favourite red sandals and my favourite red lipstick. Size 16. code number 139.  Shoulder pads.  Look closely at the photo and you will see that the polka dots are in two sizes.  Five buttonholes and five buttons down the front covered are with the same fabric. I have considered removing the shoulder pads in order to use the pocket of semi-circuar red fabric to create two pockets. I would let the fabric into the ...

Dress of the day 203 Girl in Green. Green dress. White tee-shirt with applique triangle.

Photo by Trevor Sharot. The green dress by Paraphrase is made of cool cotton. The batwing sleeve and short skirt makes it extra cool for a sultry, sweaty summer, a well-heated winter room, or the tropics.  I was pleasantly surprised that I did not look daft in such a short skirt. What with my age, which I cannot change, my height, which I can only vary with high heeled shoes, and my weight. But now that I have lost a lot of weight I can wear outfits which never fitted or suited me before.  For the photo, to continue the green theme, I picked up a glass with a green lid (saved from aplastic bottle) which is used to keep dust and fies out of my water glass. To echo the orange pattern on the tee-shirt, I added an orange belt, made from tying on a large, orange thin scarf. I shoe orange open toed sandals to complete the orange and green summery look.  For the background I had some green plants, rather than a white wall. I dream of cropping the photo and adding a miniat...
