Dress Of The Day with Angela

Comfy clothes were in Queens Park and went out of business. The pattern on the front of the top is white bamboo leaves with small Chinese writing. The base colour is coral pink.  I was looking for a night dress or day dress. I have a day dress which is sleeveless, designed to be worn over a contrasting short or long sleeved under garment. . The top in the same colour.  Comfy clothes came in large loose sizes. They were expensive but had sales once or twice a year. When they went out of business I dashed over to buy what I could.  The garments were stored by them folded and had no hanging straps.  If you have pyjamas or pyjama bottoms which you don't wear, or pyjama bottom loose lounge wear, you can turn them into a skirt suit.    The skirt was from a child or a much smaller person. But the elasticated black waist is just right for a neckline. This skirt is the circular type which is roomy enough not to constrain the shoulders and upper arms. I was astonished how sophisticated it looked. The cat is one of a pair bought from a UK museum. One is black. The other is white. I had two in the picture, but that was a distraction from the dress. Pluse too many bits of futniture.  Photo by Trevor Sharot.  Two lines of giraffes are around the hem.  Matching Brown Sandals I have matched the clothes with brown sandals, which I rarely wear. I found brown boring. But they match the colours and pick out the giraffe theme.  Above the giraffes, above the snow-capped mountains, you can read the words Mount Kilimanjaro in black. The black lettering is almost invisible, blending in with the black of the pattern. Skirt Converted Into A Dress The dress is actually a skirt. I am not tall and many dresses drag on the ground and trip me up as well as getting dirty around the hem and caught in my heels. So I hoist up the skirt and find it fits well around the bust, especially with shirred elastic. I recently discovered that you can add wide ribbons, two at the front and two at the back, to secure the dress in place, stop it slipping down or down on one side.
