Orange Long Dress With Matching Long Coat And Wide Scarf, elegant dress of the day 558

Image
From ebay, so second hand. No label. Maybe Jacques Vert?  First Impression - Feel The Fabric The dress and matching scarf are silky. So far so good. The coat is polyester and feels slightly rough. I was a bit worried when I opened the delivery package and felt it. However, when you are dressed, the silk dress is next to your skin.  The dress is short sleeved. When you get hot, or sit down to dinner you might remove the coat. You could wear a silk vest or blouse with long sleeves under the coat to keep your arms against the smooth fabric.  I wear a long black waist slip as well, from Marks & Spencer. I have been wearing this for years.  The Washing Label The washing label says size 12. Hand wash at 30 degrees. Iron low, on one. 100% polyester. Made in UK. The Style The dress is straight, and sleeveless.  The length is ankle length on me and I am around five foot tall. Not so long that I trip over it. Just long enough to cover socks and not leave a gap ...

Anthony Sicari red outfit - too small ! What to Do? Outfit number 381

Image
Angela Lansbury wearing a red and black Anthony Sicari outfit, American size 4. Photo by Trevor Sharot. Red Anthony Sicari Outfit I love Anthony Sicari outfits because the wide sleeves always fit me whatever my weight and girth. I also love the colour red So, when I saw a red Anthony Sicari outfit on Ebay, I had to have it. I buy a lot of outfits. Most are in the USA. I ponder a long time because of the high cost of postage. Sometimes the price comes down. I buy.  Despite the additional cost of postage from the USA to the UK. The Short Sicari Skirt  Size 4 USA is very small. I tried wearing it as you see here, with the skirt lowered.  I let down the hem twice and made the skirt longer. The Black Bucket Hat The black hat is a rainbow colour hat turned inside out. Co-ordinating Colours I have matched up both the black and red of the skirt suit. The hat and socks are black. The sandals are red. I wear red lipstick. In winter and for the evening I would wear a long black sati...

Cape Dresses Glamorous Mother of the Groom And BooHoo & Shein Bargains

Image
I have been buying cape blazers from BooHoo in Britain and from China. They smarten up any evening outfit. Black and white are the most versatile colours. Black with a black skirt and lots of different outfits makes for something which won't show the dirt if you spill curry on your clothes in a restaurant. However, I have now started hunting for other colours. And styles. Capes which fit securely on the shoulders, attached to the bodice of a jacket, but reveal the arms are elegant evening wear, warm but smart and sexy. The style has crept into trouser suits. (AMERICANS say pant suits.) Next I expect skirt suits. Dresses with long capes attached have finally arrived. A long-standing friend of mine from a Toastmasters International club in Singapore showed, shared, on Facebook, a photo of herself i a blue cape blazer dress, worn by the mother of the bride at a wedding in Italy. The supplier of this dress was the brand Marchesa. This maker is new to me, but I looked up the company. In...

Dress of the Day 201. Pyjamas upcycled into a skirt suit. Sorella - silky.

Image
Angela Lansbury wearing pyjamas, with pyjama bottoms slit to make a skirt. Photo by Trevor Sharot. Why convert trousers into a skirt? I didn't want trousers. In hot weather I like to feel free in a skirt. I hesitated. Would I wear the garment? I told myself, Go on, wear it. My internal dialogue went like this:   No. I am not interested.  In that case, it is just taking up space. You have nothing to lose. You might as well cut the bottom half.  If it goes wrong, I still have lots of fabric Or could sew it back together.  The decision was made. How To Cut? I took the trousers and a pair of pinking shears. The material was catching. I used ordinary sharp large scissor, holding the join of the fabric very carefully a short distance from the blade.  I slit the trousers from the ankles to the crotch. Where to cut the hem? I had previously realised that if you have a large hem it is worthwhile separating the two sides by unravelling the sewing along the join to gain a ...
