How to turn a pillowcase into a top, Dress of the day 524

Photo by Trevor Sharot. The Spare Pillowcase  I had a pillowcase lying around. It did not match anything else. I was about to fold it up with sheets, as I scanned my clothes for something new to wear. Why not wear it as a top? Was it large enough? It was long enough, but was it wide enough? I needed to try it on, over my head. Cutting? Could I do that without cutting it? Only as a front piece on a white tee-shirt. It was too big for that. Could I wear it over my head without cutting it?  No. It has a long slit which would do for the waist. I had to cut a short slit in the centre of a short side for the neck.  Where to Cut I made a small snip in the middle in order to insert the end of a pair or scissors. 263 Blue instant starburst outfit.

Do you believe in recycling? Somebody threw this blue fabric away. It was a mat with a torn cover. Of course I washed it in the shower. I took the torn cover off the mattress or exercise mat and cut the material. I cut off the torn parts and trailing threads. I tried the fabric in four directions to see which way the pattern went.  Ready to go. I had enough material for two garments, a long dress and a jacket or top. One part had a zip.  I took the simpler part without the zip. I cut a slit for the neck. I added a ribbon belt. From my sets of ribbons I selected a matching colour.  Instant new outfit.  What next? Add a blue hat and umbrella. The black lace collar is a dickey. A pretend shirt, just a collar and a bib with elastic under both arms supposed to keep the collar straight. Not really straight.
