Phase Eight Today I received my dress and matching jacket from an Evri delivery driver. I took it out to show it to her. She immediately recognized the label. Phase Eight. She said, 'They used to be from Debenhams'.  The Pink Dress Made in China. Feels very soft. Size 14.  The lining is acetate. The colour is deep pink.  It has a side zip. The zip is longer than the part which the manufacturer has allowed to open. The pattern is black and red flowers and leaves. Two shades of red, darker matt and lighter shiny. The skirt part is fold over like the top.  Unnervingly, the shoulders are just the very thin, delicate top layer without any lining. Will they eventually tear through? The more I look at it, the more I like it. What a pity I don't have the slim figure to do justice to it. Neve mind, it makes me feel happy. Pink Patra Vest The pink short sleeved vest with lace at the neck and edging the arms is from label Patra in England. Pure silk. Either bought directly from them in their early days when they sold only silk and had seasonal sales for callers at their premises. More likely later second hand from Ebay. I now have their vests which are the same colour and look identical and feel soft but are bamboo. Tie A Too Long Dress This dress was too long, likely to trip me up. Also the hem was catching on the Velcro (hook and close) of my shoes. And the neckline was low, showing the vest underneath. They get constant compliments. The inside sole of one of my boots wore down. I covered it with a loose inner sole cut to fit. I looked online. My inner sole seemed a success. But I still needed to check the availability of a replacement pair of boots. Since the red pair was still wearable, why not buy another colour? In previous years I had rejected the yellow version, because it would match fewer outfits and probably get dirty and shabby quicker, with less chance of an inconspicuous repair. The black ones could easily be restored using paint-on black leather touch up. I put the yellow ones I found at two different prices into the out tray or cart on a couple of websites on my laptop. Slightly see-through . Caution - so any pattern underneath is likely to show through. Tha ad vantage of the jacket is that it is light to wear and light to pack. The pink vest is from Patra, UK. As you might expect  The St Luke's price was £3. I googled waistcoat, Shein, parrot, and the exact sme garment appeared immediately. The Shein model was wearing it over a white crop top with short denim shorts. The price was ten pounds plus three pounds postage. But as a new customer or returning customer (eg after a gap of several weeks not ordering) you might get offered free postage.  I like the fact that the patterns on the right and left mirror each other as if the parrots are about to speak to each other. I had previously gone to the expense of buying an orange skull cap But today I happened to have a small white linen table napkin lying next to the hat. I folded. It to fit inside the dome of the hat . The linen did the trick. Temporarily. But the new liner slipped. So I needed to fasten it to the hat with 2 safety pins. I also needed two ribbons. One either side, sewn on inside to the inner headband. But there was no inner headband or sweatband.  The straw hat was a promotional gift. Advertising Ceará. Ceara is the sandy coastal state in north eastern Brazil. An article about Panama hats from Ecuador alerted me to the qualities of genuine hand made hats using natural fibres. Favourite Features The wide rickrack (zig-zag) braid enhances the skirt hem, the elbow length sleeves and the neckline. The neck has a wide shirt-style turn back collar. I tried folding it together at the neck but that wasn't nearly as good.  The brand is Emery Rose. This label is for buyers, usually older, who like conventional and covered up clothes, not the revealing, cutaway clothes exposing all sort of bits you are trying to hide. These co-ordinated outfits look smart to go to dinner on holiday in a hotel or restaurant. Shein Styles - Trousers (USA Pants) Shein uses the words pants, wide leg pants, and causal pants. Shein and news (Daily Mail) and other social media sites (Facebook) show me Sheirn ads. They all bombard me with tempting ads for wide-legged one piece outfits or two piece outfits. And three piece Shein outfits with cardigan jacket, tank top, and wide leg trousers with elasticated waist, in multiple colours. I have saved some of these to Pinterest where I have a board called Dress of the Day, but it has so many pictures that I find it hard to locate anything. Shein has lots of Leopard print clothes. Here is my latest favourite. I have saved my favourites to my Angela Lansbury on Pinterest on the board Dress of the day.   I don't know how to save to blogger where I create and which you read on blogspot. I can't slide the Shein picture onto my desk top. Either they haven't made it possible or they are blocking it, I don't know which. In theory I could do a screen capture. Instead, I have taken a picture of my screen with my mobile phone which also shows the price, handy for myself, if I ever want to come back later to buy the item, and, compare items, plus of course, a useful price guide to my readers. For free postage for me there was a minimum spend.   Angela in Animal print, fluffy, wrap coat. Photo by Trevor Sharot. I bought this for one pound in the St Luke's charity shop in Hatch End in NW London, England, UK. I didn't think  I would like the pattern, but it feels very soft. It is 95% polyester. I have called it animal print because I get confused beween leopard and tiger, especially if the pattern is a bit abstract. Usually, tiger pattern is stripey, leopard pattern is spots. You might recall the phrase, a leopard cannot change its spots. Style As for the style, it has no buttons. Just a fold across.  You can use a belt. But that makes it look bulky. Adding Fastening It is warm and attractive, almost seductive, if you hold the collar together or folded over slightly. To keep it done up attractively, wtihout having to hold it, I am considering adding some kind of closure at the neck. I would like something small and inconspicous, such as a snap or hook and eye.  Abstracts and Geometry, Hearts and Stars Temu and Shein have lots of garments with sun and moon and stars, especially on night clothes. Hearts appear for Valentine's Day but are available all year if you are romantic.   Angela Lansbury waring long red night dress. I chose this night dress when looking for one which had long sleeves and was in red. After several hours of searching over several days, I found this and other pretty, well-cut, lace edged Victorian style night dresses. I kept looking. Suppliers included Damart. However, the cost was around the 30-50 pound price.  I rejected those on price. I rejected others which were short, or backless. Totally flimsy  is ot suitabe for me. At home I might rush to the door to answer it for a delivery before dressing. On holiday, I might also be answering the bedroom door. Or get called out of the room by a fire alarm. I kept looking. I found this reasonably-priced item with the bonus of little stars made into a white pattern, from Shein. No lace. No styling such as bust darts and shaped neckline and lace edging. Red Dress Pillar box red. Perfect colour for Christmas. Shein. Size XL. EU 44. US12.  Made in China.  Washing Instructions Machine wash cold. Gentle cycle. Do not bleach.  Composition 92% Polyester. 8% elastane. The fabric is thick and stiff, not very comfortable.  Green Knitted Top The label is Bellino. The size is 14. Very soft, comfortable, stretchy. The removable white cuffs each have six transparent buttons (inside the green sleeve to attach the cuffs. The cuffs each do up with a small silver colour metal hook and eye. Each white cuff is decorated with two small black Chinese knots on the outside of where the hook and eye are half way up the cuff. Please share links to your favourite posts.

I asked her what she wrote or hoped to write. Poetry. So I told her the titles of my books of poetry and on how to write poetry. I suggested she follow me to the book room, have a free look at my books. If she took a fancy to one of them and bought it I would sign it for her. She bought two books.

I bought it second hand from St Luke's. it was a bargain, in the one pound box for items which have not sold fast, or the occasional loss leader. (A loss leader is an item sold at a loss in order to attract customers, either to come in and buy that, and preferably return on a regular basis loiking for bargains. Primark sels clothes in the UK and elsewhere at affordable prices. to buy an item in the bargain bin in St Luke's is a double bargain. The Cape Jacket\The green cape jacket is from Shein. I bought it in a sale. I bought several cape jackets, mostly long, this one is short. I went into St Luke's looking for a condolence card. I found one. It cost 50p. a condolence card from Tesco would have cost me one pound fifty. I spent the same because I bought three cards, the other tow to go in my card stock box.  My other purchase from St Luke'...

 I saw a a tee shirt I liked on Etsy.  There was a half price offer on Etsy. Reduced from about 12 to 6, dollars or pounds, it doesn't matter. the important thing is that when I went to checkout I was asked to choose the size. the smallest size was for a baby. When I went to choose my adult size, the price was double the full price which had been shown on Etsy. You need to watch the top price offered as well as the lowest. the system tells you the lowest price for all sizes.  The result was that I was disenchanted with that item, that seller, that website, and shopping online for the day.  I had wasted 20 minutes of my time and not found anything at my price which was 10 to 15 dollars for a a tee shirt or blouse or shirt and 20 for a dress.
