How to shorten a spaghetti strap dress instantly. Dress of the Day 792 from Angela Lansbury.

 



Long Multi-coloured Spaghetti strap dress
Why am I wearing it? Because I love the colours. Jolly. Happy. Warm orange with clean white. Lively red.

Handy multi-colour. Orange. Red, Dark Salmon pink. Light brown. Mid brown. White. Can co-ordinate with lots of accessories. Made in China. 
100% polyester.

Pink Patra Vest

The pink short sleeved vest with lace at the neck and edging the arms is from label Patra in England. Pure silk. Either bought directly from them in their early days when they sold only silk and had seasonal sales for callers at their premises. More likely later second hand from Ebay. I now have their vests which are the same colour and look identical and feel soft but are bamboo.

Tie A Too Long Dress

This dress was too long, likely to trip me up. Also the hem was catching on the Velcro (hook and close) of my shoes. And the neckline was low, showing the vest underneath.

I wondered whether I could tie the spaghetti straps together behind my neck. With what? A shoe lace from my husband's hiking boots.

I had no time to do anything. We were about to go down to a group dinner in a hotel. So I hoisted up the spaghetti straps, wondering about cutting them so I could tie them together. No need to do that. I simply tied them together in a double knot at the back.

I worried that the knot would be too tight and inconveniently placed when it came to the time for me to undress. I reckoned my husband would be able to untie the knot for me.

However, no need for that. I was able to pull the knot apart myself. 

I had bought a couple of spaghetti strap dresses as sets with matching chiffon coats or plain colour matching bolero, from Temu; and Chinese-Singaporean online store Shein (which includes brands Emery Rose and Curve). 

I really wanted more cover across the top, but sometimes the pictures of the set did not show the top of the dress underneath. The cheaper sets had less fabric, spaghetti straps.

Now I know the secret of shortening the hem, and raising a deep neck to cover cleavage or underwear.

I keep forgetting my password. However, I have too many clothes and had enough for my holiday.

Stripey Red & White Socks, thigh high, and tights - outfit 679 by Angela Lansbury

  I bought a pair of knee high red and white stripe socks in St Luke's charity shop. At one pound or under, you can't lose much. (Their charity fundraising shops are in NW London in Hatch End, Harrow Weald and elsewhere.) Why did I buy the long socks, in hard to match, garish, childish, stripes - after hesitation and consideration? The Advantages Of Long Socks The  length was attractive, at this time of year. I often need long socks under a midi skirt. For warmth in winter. And not to show bit of bare legs above socks. To co-ordinate colours.
