Dress Of The Day with Angela

  From ebay, so second hand. No label. Maybe Jacques Vert?  First Impression - Feel The Fabric The dress and matching scarf are silky. So far so good. The coat is polyester and feels slightly rough. I was a bit worried when I opened the delivery package and felt it. However, when you are dressed, the silk dress is next to your skin.  The dress is short sleeved. When you get hot, or sit down to dinner you might remove the coat. You could wear a silk vest or blouse with long sleeves under the coat to keep your arms against the smooth fabric.  I wear a long black waist slip as well, from Marks & Spencer. I have been wearing this for years.  The Washing Label The washing label says size 12. Hand wash at 30 degrees. Iron low, on one. 100% polyester. Made in UK. The Style The dress is straight, and sleeveless.  The length is ankle length on me and I am around five foot tall. Not so long that I trip over it. Dark Pink Knitted Top The garment label is Anthony Sicari, my favourite. Why? 1 His outfits come with batwing sleeves so they are never too tight but always fit.  2 The second feature I like is the vibrant colours. 3 I like the co-ordinated look. Many of the outfits come as they must have started out, as three pieces, a skirt, top and matching scarf. Three pieces, more for your money. No time wasted looking for a matching scarf. This top comes with scarf pinned on. I found underneath the scarf, hidden, were two tiny gold colour safety pins. .  The knitted fabric is dark pink.  The long, tight forearm cuffs are ruched. The cuff fabric is bright pink. Pinky-red, purple, green and blue. The Red Skirt The red skirt label is EWM Pure classics size 14. 49% linen, 45 viscose, 6% cotton.    Angela wearing...

 My vintage Anthony Sicari outfit. Probably bought in the eighties. The outfit consists of three matching pieces. The Skirt The skirt, or dress with a thin, white sleeveless top holding the plated skirt in place.  The skirt is pleated. I am not thrilled with pleats. In theory, you can remove the skirt, convert it into a wrap skirt, and still have spare fabric for a scarf or headband or belt or all three.  I have done that with free secondhand garments which were too small on the hips at the join, so I had to remove the skirt. Since the garment was free, and unwearable as it was, I had nothing to lose and everything to gain. However, this outfit fits perfectly. It cost a lot. I am not going to risk ruining it, nor having it in pieces whilst    I am too busy to finish it. The Matching Top The blue knitted body of the top, with wide sleeves in the same fabric as the skirt.  The Bonus Scarf A matching scarf is what completes the co-ordinated look, makes it look...

However from my collection of scarves I found one with a combination of blue and pink to create more warmth around my face. Makes a change. I was looking for something like my Ann Balon dress which I wore at our son's wedding. Ann Balon dresses, even on sale in the shops and online, are expensive, and heavy.  I looked for dress and matching scarf, lace dress, two piece dress.   I found this dress listed under boho which is short for bohemian. It had several features which I liked. The matching top and under-dress. The lace inserts, known as godets.  The long sleeves which hitch up.  I was disapointed in the colour because I was wearing vibrant reds and royal blues and green. However, the mustard goes perfectly with blonde hair. And with gold-rimmed glasses. I thought the dress was dull and the sleeves were too heavy for Singapore.
