Warm Clothes For Winter - Anthony Sicari Red Three Piece Suit With Scarf Outfit 670

Image
Red Anthony Sicari top and scarf with white blouse. Photo by Angela Lansbury. Red Anthony Sicari top and scarf with white blouse. Photo by Angela Lansbury. Anthony Sicari Red Suit Outfit Worn In Winter I added a thick skirt for warmth when travelling in the British winter.  only when I did a search for a picture of the outfit on this blog did I discover that the outfit came with a thin pleated skirt, which had become detached from the top. Slips for Warmth I added a red satin half slip. It had a zip. It was converted from a pair of red satin wide leg trousers I had never worn. Jolly red. Pretty. Elegant. Then I added another slip in black. Bulky, admittedly. I was more concerned about getting cold walking to and from a station, sitting on a station platform, and walking to my destination from the central London underground train station. Blouse For Warmth The white blouse also adds another layer for warmth. They say, dress in layers. If I got too hot, I could remove one or b...

Anthony Sicari black and white spots with hanging collar outfit 621

Image
Angela Lansbury wearing a black and white top. Photo selfie by Angela Lansbury. Copyright. The Blouse White tie neck, pussy bow, here left untided and hanging loose. Moves more white over the black to crea a predominantly white effect. The Top Anthony Sicari. My favourite. I have several of thse outfits. One of two triple sets of blouse, skirt and scarf. I used to search for the complete set and ignore taop and scarf with skirt, or top and skirt withou scraf. Now I am interested in anything. The tops are comfortable. The sleeves are wide so your shoulders and upper arms move freely.  Anthony Sicari. Made in the USA.

White blouse with white tie collar secured, no bow, instead a tie pin, dress 620

Image
The Tie Collar The long tie-collar of my white blouse could have been tied in a bow. But I could not tie it tidily. So instead I wore it hanging down.  Tie Pin To Secure How to secure it, fix it in place? I did not want it hanging lop-sided, or distractingly. I could have used a huge round belt clasp, like a scarf pin. I then thought of using a tie pin. Please share links to your favourite posts.

Indigo Moon Blue Top Dress 612

Image
See outfit 484. Blue Indigo Moon Top The blue top is one of several vintage outfits I bought on ebay, mostly odd jackets or tops. I spent a week bidding on several and waited to see which, if any, I won at reasonable prices. 3 XL so fewer bidding for it. The embroidery colours are pale pink, pale blue, white and black. The thick matt almost felt like fabric is mostly cotton,  with some polyester. The trim different.  Plus beads and sequins.  Iron on warm, it says. Then, don't iron. Reading carefully, I see it says don't iron on decoration. You would have to be very careful. Or place fabric over the decoration so your oscillating hand movements on the iron don't go fruther than intended. This time I am wearing the long top with a black skirt and white blouse. The White BHS Blouse White. Vintage. Eighties style bow at the neck. Shiny and elegant, so it goes with the glitter of the teeny sequins and teeny tubular white beads of the blue top. The plainness of the black...

Pale Pink Anthony Sicari Vintage knitted cardigan, post 434

Image
Pink Sicari cardigan. Selfie by Angela Lansbury. Angela in the pink, lunching at Kafe Ador.  Photo by Trevor Sharot.  Only when I looked at the photo did I realise that the garment has epaaulettes. The Enamel Buttons Eleven enamel buttons, pink and gold colour, decorate down the front placket, plus two more buttons, one on each of the epaulettes. No buttons on the cuffs. The buttons are not all the same.  Some have four pink enamel sections, Looking carefully, I discovered that the buttons are not all the same. For ease of identification, I am numbering the buttons downwards, with button one at the neck and button seven at the hem. Buttons one, three, five and six are the same. You will notice that some of the other buttons have three pinks sections, one section is left silvery. Buttons 2, 7 match the button on the epaulette on the left of the picture.  Another, button 4,  has only one pink part. Is that deliberate, for variety, as is the recent fashion, or did ...

Polish Flag colours, red and white, dress of the day 311

Image
ANGELA  Lansbury earing the colours of the Polish flag, white above red.   In Singapore I wore a red top and white skirt for Singapore's national day. The colours are in the opposite positions to Poland's flag. In Singapore the red, lucky to Chinese cultures, is at the top. The additional moon n is a Muslim symbol because Singapore was oriinally part of Malaya until the two separated into Malaysia and Singapore. In the UK for a speech on Poland I wore a wwhite blouse with a red skirt. No shortage of food in red and white if you ever want a red and white themed meeting. Wines are red and white too. FlAG OF IiNDONESIA The flag of Indonesia is like Singapore's with the red above and the white below.\ Your red and white outfits can be worn for Polish occasionas, Singapore national Day in August, Indonesian occasionas, Christmas, and Valentine's Day. Birthday outfit Post 309

Image
Angela  Angela Lansbury in her birthday outfit. Photo by Trevor Sharot. Skirt Black Jacket green with embroidery. Brand ROSEs . Spelled like that with capitals for ROSE then a small s. On my computer screen it looks blue. I dont mind. Blue suits me and matches my eyes. Blouse wwhite The blouse is fancy, with long floppy v shape collar ends. They hang to one side. So I fastned them with a safety pin invivibl, underneath. Boots, black and red with petal tops. You can still buy these ankle boots in three colours, black, or wine with black petals, which I am wearing here. or yellow. They are very cofortable. Do an image search. They zip up the back.  I added a red pandant for a touch of bright colour. I need to wear something red to lift my mood. The piece de resistance is the head band with tubline or hanging daisies. Close up its rather cheap, but at a distance and at night it looks fantastic against my blonde hair and Im sure would look great on other hair colours too.

Xmas Outfits in 2023 And Vintage From Tesco, outfits 254

Image
Harrovians toastmasters club. This year I went to Harrovians. The two leaders of the meeting, husband and wife, were in matching jumpers. I thought that was very effective. I then received a notice from the sister club of which I am also a member. Time for me to get out my Xmas outfit. Years ago I would not have bought a seasonal outfit. I thought it was a waste of money to buy seasonal items which you only wear once to a party. Too twee.  Might offend non-Christian friends. Then, one year I saw one in a sale.  Now, when asked to dress in Xmas theme, I can oblige.  In theory I should keep it in a suitcase up in the attic or an outroom such as a store room, maid's room, scullery/utility room.  The suitcase would be labelled Xmas with a all the decorations.  However, I tend to keep most things out. This works well if you want to find it in a hurry. I did. iwent to my cupborad of thick woolly jumpers and found it immeditely on the top of the pile. Xmas jumper Backg...

All my Jacques Vert Clothes (6) In (7) Posts on this blog Post number 583

Image
Post 581 A reminder from previous posts. Jacques Vert means Jack Green in French, which the two founders thought sounded better in French. They created the name from the first name of one partner, Jack, and the family name of his friend, Green. Jacques Vert white blouse with orange edging.  Orange dress with spagetti straps. Post 578. Photo by Angela Lansbury. Angela Lansbury wearing a blue and white blouse by Jacques Vert. Post 780. Photo by Trevor Sharot. Copyright. Angela Lansbury in red Jacques Vert suit with red Anthony Sicari top. Dress of the day 566. Photo by Sharot family. The top is worn underneath. Doesn't that sound odd, and amusing. Top underneath it sounds like a contradiction, an oxymoron. Top means top half of the body, above the skirt. Underneath means under the jacket. The Jacques Vert Suit The red jacket has three fabric covered buttons. Two false pockets are on the front of the jacket. The restored pink belt with the bold buckle. Photo by Angela Lansbury ...

Elegant Black Beaded Coat, long and knitted, for warmth. Elegant Dress 563. With Erfo white blouse. Ann Balon Skirt.Anthony Sicari top.

Image
Angela Lansbury wearing a long black beaded knitted coat. Photo by Trevor Sharot. The Elegant Knitted Black Coat The coat is long and knitted with built-up, padded shoulders. It is thick and warm. Anthony Sicary top I wore the coat over a co-ordinating warm black and red knitted top. The brand is one of my two favourites, Anthony Sicari. His clothes have batwing sleeves. Handy for going over blouses. His garments fit you whether you are small or large. The Skirt The skirt is the green part of a suit by Ann Balon. That is my other favourite brand. I bought two suits. Both cost a lot although they were second hand. I was disappointed because the colour had faded and they looked a bit shabby. However, they are warm, co-ordinated top and skirt which saves time. The green colour is not my favourite, which is a warm colour such as bright red, wine red, or pink, or orange. However, green makes a change from black. Isn't that what fashion and clothes are all about. Dress for the occasion. ...

Soothing sky blue flowers with a cloudy white background and round shisha mirrorwork skirt. Dress of the day 318.

Image
Angela in Soothing blue top patterned with white clouds. Photo by Trevor Sharot. The Blue Top The top is brand Nightingales, of the UK, 100% polyester, both the shell and the lining. I recall that Nightingales was taken over by one of the big companies. I still have a traditional Victorian style cotton full length long sleeve night dress which I wear frequently. i could not find the company in Wikipedia, but eventually I found them on ebay.co.uk, selling tops and skirts - lots of blue, new and second hand. Then I found the Nightingales brand on the Ambrose Wilson site, selling mother of the bride outfits.  I looked at the fabric again. It is slightly stretchy with a diagonal weave. The effect is matt. So it would not go with satin effect dark blue skirts. The front has horizontal bust darts, one either side. The back has two vertical darts in the middle, not reaching the top nor the hem. You can see the darts more clearly when you turn the top inside out and look at the lining....

To create your kitchen chef picture. Chef and Eggs dress of the day 209. Make a DIY white concertina paper chef's hat.

Image
Props We boiled up the egg, the small chicken's egg, for the small egg cup. I looked around the living room and saw a giant ostrich egg, souvenir of South Africa. Just thing for an impact in a photo and on zoom for a speech about cooking eggs.  Clothes and Hat The Apron   I had the chef's apron in wide blue and narrow white stripes. I bought it for my husband who felt and looked silly in my girl aprons decorated with flowers. It is waterproof and handy for protecting clothes from water, juice and coffee, more often than for cooking.  How To Make The DIY Paper Chef's Hat You can buy chef's hat from cookware suppliers. But I needed one instantly. For a speech about cooking eggs I thought I would switch my baseball hat to something else. What?  I had no chef's hat. But I did have a pillbox hat. So I took White A4 paper from the printer, or the pile of discarded paper, or the waste bin. I folded parallel strips using a ruler.  Then I folded  them ba...

All White On the Night: Dress of the Day 161: White Cape Blazer, White blouse and white and brown caftan.

Image
Dress of the day 161. My title, all white on the night, is a pun on All Right On The Night. I was dressed in my Brown, black and white caftan (Dress 158) for speed and comfort, acting as Language Evaluator for the English language Toastmasters Club Legacy's online meeting, when the Toastmaster of the Day announced: "Our theme is white. Please wear something white."  I was busy writing notes on which speakers used my word of the day, pure, purify, purity, but in the interval I dashed to my wardrobe to find a white blouse or jacket to wear over the caftan. I found both. The blouse is labelled BHS (for British Home Stores) and the brand is Topline. It is polyester, size 16 and made in Korea. The jacket is a cape blazer from Mango.Made in Vietnam. Size EUR XL, USA L, MEX EG. I looked for white shoes, but my lovely white shoes had disintegrated. So opted for brown. Neutral. Did not clash. Sort of went with the brown of the caftan. To complete the white theme of the outfit, I h...
