White lace dress, label Zalora. Dress of the day 375 in white complemented with black and red - Outfit 301.

Angela Lansbury in white lace dress by Zalora. Photo by Trevor Sharot. Why Buy This White Lace Dress? At first glance this was not the fabric I wanted, the late was pretty, but not my target. Lace is lovely.  The size was small and it also looked tiny. Most small items I tried on got stuck on the shoulders.  But this had a long zip at the back. You can reverse the dress and just try the arms. If the sleeves are too tight, you either cut them off or let them out. But how do you try it on? These sleeves were wide, no problem.  So I tried on the dress. To my surprise it fitted. A close fit. A perfect fit. A flattering fit. Like hand in glove. Super Sleeves Aren't those shaped sleeves divine! You have to lift your arms to show off the sleeves to best advantage in a photo. I was looking for broderie anglaise, called eyelet in Asia. I already have a white lace dress with co-ordinating, almost matching lace white wrap which has fringes. However, this dress suits me well. ...

How to restore a black cowgirl hat crushed in the mail - dress of the day 343

Image
My black cowgirl hat was crushed in the mail. I was crushed - metaphorically.  I tried to unbend the circular wire edge. It was completely mis-shapen. I could not straighten it. The dome was creased. I thought of wetting it. Then wearing it. I would get black dye all over my blonde hair.  Put it on top of another black hat. That might straighten the central dome, but not the bent edging wire. Angela wearing the bent, black cowgirl hat. Selfie by Angela Lansbury. The brim was badly bent. The high centre was wonky. Awful. Unwearable. What is the centre part called? Not a dome. Parts of a hat? It is called the crown. Later that day, I carried a heavy mortar and pestle over to the dining table and placed it by chance alongside the hat. It was heavy. I moved it over the edge of the hat, to flatten the edge. That seemed to work. Would it stay? I didn't know - yet. I decided to leave it. Also on the table was a pile of heavy wooden chopping boards. I placed them on the other si...

Black and White Anthony Sicari Outfit, Dress of the Day 260. Jacques Vert White Blouse. Sandals with Rip-tape Closure.

Image
An Anthony Sicari outfit, black and white dress and jacket. Photo by Trevor Sharot. The Dress and Jacket Dress with pleated skirt. Size 14.  Jacket with knitted cuffs. Swamps me now I have lost weight.  The buttons are large white pearly discs with four holes You can undo the two buttons on the edge but the other two are sewn on. It is a pull over your head jacket because the dropped waistline knitted band has no opening. The cuffs and waistband are a little bit stretchy. What looks like a horizontally striped false front is the top half of the sleeveless underdress. The breast pocket is yet another illusion, designed to make the item look smart. The cuff of the pocket is sewn on and the triangle of the handkerchief goes down only as far as the cuff of the non-existent pocket. Sewn in place. If you ever have a tiny scrap of material left over and are wondering what to do with it, you can make a false pocket and a false handkerchief apparently peeping out. A black and wh...

Dress of the day 126 Halloween In Life And On Zoom: How to make hats, buy bargains and store

Image
The white ghost item in my left hand is not a butterfly catcher nor a spider catcher but a trick or treat bag held out at a distance, for Covid-19.  Photo by Trevor Sharot. In the picture of me in the doorway you can see: St George of England cross on Wellington boots; black full length lace slip by Marks & Spencer; From Waitrose supermarket in the UK: Trick or treat, black bucket bag showing pumpkin, orange trick or treat bucket bag with black cat face design; gold horn head-dress, small red trident,  plastic skeleton hand (arm outside picture); synthetic orange pumpkin spectacles. You can make a ghost from an old net curtain on a string. Add two of your smallest black buttons for eyes. No buttons? Look inside all your shirts, blouses, jackets, coats. Use Tippex or other white paint on the buttons for a glint in the eye, or the edge of the eyeball. Angela in purple-edged Halloween hat.
