Angela Lansbury with a Smiley face cushion. Photo by Angela Lansbury. Copyright. When you don't want to show what you are wearing, hide behind an amusing cushion.  I looked for the label on my favourite cushion, and speech propr. My grand-daughter also likes it.  The label said Puckator. They turned out to be a wholesaler, with a minimum seventy five pound spend. Great if you have a shop. Or even if you have a lot of parties, or want a huge number of identical gifts for Christmas for events. I still did not know where I had bought this cushion, retail. So I googled smiley face cushion. It immediately popped up as one of a series of face designs on round cushions, on Temu and ebay and other websites.  Then I found a version with a red Santa Christmas hat added. It was on ebay. Santa Claus red hat and matching red shouldered jacket, jolly against green seasonal holly, dress no 257

Image
Angela wearing a Santa hat by a holly bush. Photo by Trevor Sharot. The Background This photo was taken on Xmas Day 2023. The holly grows all year but is suitable for a seonal picture. The Skirt The skirt is silk. It is soft. One of my favourites. From Patra, the UK firm which specilises in silk. The skirt is thin with a think black lining.  The Vivid Orange-Red Tee-Shirt The tee-shirt is an orange-red tie dye pattern. Soft and stretchy. From Primark. Size large. Primark is always such good value. UK size 14/16, The Orange Sandals The orange sandals with hook and close on the ankle strap and across the toe always fit. They don't protect you much when it is raining. I love the flower effect on the toe bar. Fancy. Smart. The decoration upgrades the sandals. Cushion-Walk. Leather Lined. Size 4. The Blouse You may have seen this before in previous posts. It dries out fast, 1-2 days. I lost a button. An inconvenience. But found I had a spare button on the lower left label. Then I...

How to customize or match face masks with clothes

Image
Angela in a black mask. A black mask with other colour outfits looks wrong. What can you do to right this wrong? At the annual Writers' Summer School in The Hayes Conference Centre, in Swanwick, Derbyshire, I was impressed by one of the young writers who had a series of outfits, different each day, all with matching masks. How could I match that effort? If you want to buy from Etsy, if you are working, or seeking a date and a husband, and want to spend on several sets of tee-shirts and masks, that is possible by ordering online. To be recognized at your conference or anywhere, It's me, a tee-shirt with a photo. It's me tee-shirt from the-gift-project.com The masks I received in Singapore from the government came in three colours, blue paper disposable masks, black washable fabric masks and white masks. With a bit of thought and effort, I could easily match up the black mask with several outfits for day and evening. You can buy a black mask and matching scrunchie for your ...

Dress of the day 168 Silver-gold and purple silky evening caftan with silver tree. How to make a matching scarf, belt and hairband.

Image
The comments I received on Facebook included the words: beautiful, charming exquisite, glam, cracker. 'Bet it's silk.' 'I feel a little envy, on a muddy Welsh farm.'  The scarf was made by cutting the hem off the dress which was too long. I cut the fabric using pinking shears to create a serrated edge which won't fray. The drawstring at the waist is held neatly in place by a row of stitching above and below. This is a useful idea to remember when sewing your own clothes. Caften Fabric If you are using a bought caftan as a template or pattern for your own diy caftan, you can make a simple day caftan in cottom by cutting an old or new bedsheet. A ribbon can be threaded through two small slits at the right and left seams.  Silky Fabric However, if you want a smart evening caftan made of superior cloth, you can copy this idea for a neat drawstring waist from my silver caften. Draw the horizontal lines at the waist of your garment with tailor's chalk.  Why tail...
