The Background
This photo was taken on Xmas Day 2023.
The holly grows all year but is suitable for a seonal picture.

The Skirt
The skirt is silk. It is soft. One of my favourites. From Patra, the UK firm which specilises in silk. The skirt is thin with a think black lining. 

The Vivid Orange-Red Tee-Shirt
The tee-shirt is an orange-red tie dye pattern. Soft and stretchy. From Primark. Size large. Primark is always such good value. UK size 14/16,

The Orange Sandals
The orange sandals with hook and close on the ankle strap and across the toe always fit. They don't protect you much when it is raining.
I love the flower effect on the toe bar. Fancy. Smart. The decoration upgrades the sandals.

Cushion-Walk. Leather Lined. Size 4.

The Blouse
You may have seen this before in previous posts. It dries out fast, 1-2 days. I lost a button. An inconvenience. But found I had a spare button on the lower left label. Then I discovered the lost button on the floor.

I wanted to wear another blouse. I tried two others, But this has a smart, sharply definitive collar, a bright white-cream colour to enhance the contrast with the orange. It has neat cuffs, everything I could want.

The Black and Red Jacket
The jacket label is High Point New York. Made in USA. Large. 59 % rayon. 49 % acetate.
It has a red silky lining. 

Shoulder Style
The shoulders are heavily padded. That was the style of the nineteen eighties. (Coming in during the late 1970s and  going out in the early nineteen ninties, according to the article in Wikipedia.) I considered removing the padding. However, I did this on another garment previously. You end up witha huge sagging puff effect. the shoulder is too wide and hangs down. You need to narrow the shoulder with darts either side. Meanwhile, the jacket looks worse than before. Best to leave well alone, unless you are sure you have the time, energy and tools ready to do the darts straight away.

The sleeves are long without cuffs.

Two large buttons with buttonholes opposite are at the waist level. The buttons are gold effect, with four raised hearts. In the centre is a black effect echoing the black fabric. The buttons are on shanks.

What is this? My repair.  I have a lovely shiny, smart black slip, from Marks & Spencers. It has a slit with pretty lace edging.  But it is slightly tight. What to wear for a funeral? A black funeral coat from Marks & Spencers Outfit 291

The invitation said nothing about the dress code.  I know lots of funerals nowadays people were mixed colours. Some specify wearing jolly colours. My friend at the funeral told me, "Always wer black. Unles it specifies otherwise, the rule is, wear black." I had my usual blue anorak with the hood with me. I left it in the car. In the boot of the car, in case anybody broke into the car hoping to find money in the pockets or because they wanted a coat to wear or sell. The safest thing is to leave a completely empty car. At least everything in the boot so the car looks empty. I could have kept the blue anorak in my black tote bag. I always found they had small size clothes, and were pracical as well as pretty, and keenly priced. Mine is vintage. Probably from st Luke's in Hatch End in NW London. You can buy from their current range online. Of their current range, in January 2024, i like the reversible gilet in wine and pink. Brand clockhouse. Standup collar. Zip. They call the colour purple.
