I already have both red books and black boots in this style. They get constant compliments.

The inside sole of one of my boots wore down. I covered it with a loose inner sole cut to fit. I looked online. My inner sole seemed a success. But I still needed to check the availability of a replacement pair of boots.

Since the red pair was still wearable, why not buy another colour? In previous years I had rejected the yellow version, because it would match fewer outfits and probably get dirty and shabby quicker, with less chance of an inconspicuous repair. The black ones could easily be restored using paint-on black leather touch up.

I put the yellow ones I found at two different prices into the out tray or cart on a couple of websites on my laptop. However, when I looked later, the dearer one had already sold out. When I found the cheaper one available, I decided to make a purchase straight away.

I worried whether size 38 would fit. I recalled that when I was younger I ordered 37 or even 36. However, the 38 fits just right. My feet are different sizes, but I can get my feet into both boots, with a bit of wriggling around, and  oscillating the nylon zip.

If you want fancy patterns on the upper toe, or the ankle side, of low boots, you have loads of choice. If you insist on leather boots, and are happy with plain boots, or fancy decoration on the side but not the toe, or you accept pointed toes instead of rounded wide toes, you have even more choice. If you don't insist on leather and don't mind either faux leather, ie imitation leather, pvc or something else, or fabric, with embroidery, lots of additional choices on Temu, Shein as well as Joom.

I ordered size 38. I have a pair which is too tight on the toe. Uncomfortable and likely to damage my toe nail or cause hammer toes by squeezing my toes.

I wore these for the first time to a Toastmasters International meeting in London, one of five speakers' clubs I belong to. When I am on Zoom nobody else can see my boots. But I feel happy wearing them.

 I wore the boots to HOD in South Harrow.  Another member said to me, 'I love your boots!'

I won the best speaker ribbon. Did the boots help me look organized and professional? Or did they add to my confidence when I delivered the speech?

Looking at the photo, I see that yellow boots echo my blonde hair.
