The Dress Details

Made in China. It has a belt. 
The fabric is slightly stretchy.

Favourite Features
The wide rickrack (zig-zag) braid enhances the skirt hem, the elbow length sleeves and the neckline.
The neck has a wide shirt-style turn back collar. I tried folding it together at the neck but that wasn't nearly as good. 
The brand is Emery Rose. This label is for buyers, usually older, who like conventional and covered up clothes, not the revealing, cutaway clothes exposing all sort of bits you are trying to hide.

Shein and Emery Rose

Emery Rose label clothes are abundant on Shein's website. Are they exclusive to Shein, and/or owned by Shein? It's complicated. Read the Wikipedia article. When you understand it, explain it to me.
Two big surprises. The Shein HQ, presumably admin, is in Singapore. But their operttions are in China. I don't know if I have got that right. But by the time you read this, some or all of the facts may have changed.
Anyway, you get lots of Emery Rose clothes on Shein. 

The Black Vest

The black, short-sleeved vest has the label Patra, the British Patra company, which sells underwear, clothes and bedding, in soft silk, cotton, bamboo and mixtures, not the American seller of sparklyg evening clothes.

This black vest is 55% silk and 45% cotton.

The Black Slip

I like a long skirt, So I added a long, black slip from Marks & Spencer. I have had this half slip for years. It lengthens many outfits to cover the gap between the top of my socks and the hem of my skirt. The slip was tight and tore diagonally from the kickpleat. I sewed it up ance The sewing pulled out because the slip was still to tight. I filled the gap with three vertical ribbons in green and red 


Summer Sandals

The sandals are my favourite style, with two adjustable wide straps across the ankle and toes. The are quick to put on
 Quick to take off. Fit over thin or thick socks or bare feet. The colour is off white. A sort of blue grey.

Blue H & M Dress, dress of the day 393

But I had a white blouse, so I wore this. On the internet and on Facebook you can see lots of videos of how to tie a scarf, but mine is simply hanging, which partly obscures the cleavage.  Cleavage cover I had a choice. To insert a dickey or false front, also called a removable or detachable collar. I have one or two which are plain white.  The alternative which saves hunting for a matching dickey without distracting collar colours and embrodiery, is simply to add a fastening. I decided that a snap or press stud fastener in small size is qhich to fasten and unlikely to pull apart (as opposed to hook and eye. I like velcro but it can scratch your skin, so the press stud was the right andwer. You have to get the two sides exactly measured up from the point of the V neck otherwide you end up with...

Survival Clothes and Kits For Holidays, Home & Away post 510

I read in the news today that the French have issued instructions on preparing a survival kit for householders.  Convenient Carry Bag Your house should have a bag you can carry, or sling in a car. Your handbag or tote bag or holdall should have a few essentials. When hiking I wear clothes with pockets and have a rucksack with have pockets water, food and sting relief, and insect repallent, and maps and phone numbers. I also put the hospital nubers in my phone. Survival Kit Everybody should have a survival kit by their door, as well as a first aid box in the bathroom and a burns kit in the kitchen. Also clothes! Japanese The Japanese are reputed to keep survival kit by the door. Why? In case of earthquakes. Travellers should have a first aid kit. In their suitcase or bag. And in cars. Plus spare clothes.
