Pineapple pattern skirt, cut and converted from pants (trousers), outfit 591, with Clarks Sandals

I am carrying a cut pineapple, in a Denby Seville bowl.

The Sandals
The sandals are from Clarks. Size UK 6, Europe 39. The closure is Velcro or a similar touch and close over both the toes and across the instep. Colour a warm rusty brown. Platform heel. Curved insoles.

The Headband
The headband is a piece of orange ribbon, tied in a bow. It is inclined to slip off so if worn around the town it would need a hair clip or a cap or hat to hold it in place to look neat and prevent loss.

The Dress or Skirt from a converted pair of pyjama pants (the British say trousers)

I had a pair of thin pyjama bottoms with a small repeating pineapple pattern. The pineapples were tiny pale orange, each with the turquoise green tuft, on a white background. In between the pineapples are small dots of turquoise green.

I cut up the inside leg seam. I could have used pinking sheers. I prefer to use a large pair of scissors which I bought in the UK. They were wallpaper scissors.

I bought the pyjamas in the UK. Second hand in a charity shop. Americans say thrift shop.

Somehow I have mislaid the top. Once day I hope to find it. Meanwhile, I have the trousers as a converted skirt.

The Fabric

Up close, you can see that the fabric creases. You don't notice the creases when it is worn, especially with the distraction of the scarf.

The thin white fabric makes a slightly see-through skirt. This problem can be solved with a white slip or underskirt. Alternatively, choose a contrasting colour to show at the sides, if you like the split-side, suggestive, seductive, elusive, cheongsam effect.

After you have cut your trousers, you move them, rotate them, so that the slits, the former seams, are at the side, so you have a flat front and back.

When Lacking Pockets Is An Advantage

The easiest trousers to convert to a skirt are those without pockets.

Moving or Inserting Pockets

I have another pair of thin white trousers which I have cut. The pockets could be inserted in the side seam. They could be sewn together to make a wide front waist pocket like a waitress wears. Or strung from a belt on two large circular  key ring rings.
