BRANDS! Tell us about the clothing labels, (brands) and which companies or shops sell them: Atmosphere, George, St Michael, Tu - from which shop?
LABELS - and stores which sell them
Look inside a garment and you will see a label. This tells you where you bought the garment. If the garment is second hand, the label tells you where the item was originally bought. You can then buy other items to match, or others with the same cut or sizing. You might find shops or online sellers have similar current, or vintage items.
Labels are useful. Why are the labels left on?
1 The wearer never thought of removing it.
2 The label is very firmly stitched on.
3 The label is handy to help you buy a matching item.
4 The label is essential if you wish to return the item intact for a refund.
5 The label can be used to hand the garment on a hook, or secure it on a hanger so it does not slip sideways.
6 The wearer is proud of the garment and wishes others to see it.
7 Out of respect to the designer to preserve their identity.
8 To help get a good price when selling it second hand.
9 To identify the item if it is lost stolen or in a heap such as outdoor clothes in a pile at a party, umbrellas left in a rack in the front of a cafe or shop, or you have sent a spouse to fetch it, from left luggage in a suitcase, or you are phoning a restaurant to ask if they have your missing swimsuit or glove or umbrella or jacket. To identify stolen goods, on their own, or in a lost or stolen car, to identify yourself as the owner, or the car as yours. to know which of your old items you can throw away, give away to charity and which can be used to raise money for charity or given to a friend or relative.
Why would the label be missing?
1 The label has fallen off. One side of the label detached and rather than sweing back the loose side the wearer pulled off the entire label.
2 The label has been cut off because it irritates the skin. The edge is sealed with a heat gadget which leaves a rough edge which scratches the wearer's neck.
3 The label was showing, in an untidy white piece hanging out at the neck, or visible and distracting on a scarf, or shows that the item is worn inside out by accident or deliberately.
4 The garment is from a major supplier such as marks and Spencer. The garment is sold to outlets or middle men who sell it onone though ebay and other place at a bargain price and the big store does not want the goods returned by an inocent and ignormant customers (such as the recipicient of a gift, or the offspring or executors of somebody deceased or gone overseas)
