Glamorous Gladiator Sandals In Gold: Outfit 571, dress of the day and dressy for the evening

Evening Shoes Needed

I need new shoes. Smart evening shoes. Gold evening shoes.

Why? Because my old fancy gold shoes have broken. They were Cushion-Walk. Model number FZ975.. Size UK 4E, EU 37, US size 6.

What could replace such pretty sandals!

Do I need to buy new shoes? No.

I just gave a speech on shop in your spare room. Shop in your own cupboards. Save space. Save time. Save clutter. Save the planet from those piles of unwanted goods which are sent to Africa.  Now the empty spaces are full. The piles of clothes and shoes and accessories are catching fire, polluting the air, sending out methane gas, polluting the water with dye from new clothes, with dirt from stained and old unwashed clothes. Filling up land with piles of rubbish. The land could instead be used for food, or housing, or planted with pretty scenery as a park. So, save the planet, starting with order in your own home.

I thought, I shall give those shoes one wear, to see if they fit, need stretching of attention. Are they comfortable? Or will they take up space and add weight to the suitcase I might have to carry from the car or upstairs and along corridors on holiday?

I shall just try them on. Poor neglected shoes. Time to give them an outing.

If I put them on and take them straight off, like trying them on in a shop, I could legitimately sell them as never been worn.

These have been sitting in the spare room for ages, days, weeks, months, years. Maybe I bought them in a sale in Brent Cross shopping centre.

I see similar shoes on sale from Shein and Amazon. Sales come around at least twice a year online. You or I could buy a similar pair for hot summer evenings, smart shoes in white or gold.

What is good about them?

 1 Gold - good colour

Firstly, the colour. Good as gold, glamorous for evening. Smart for the daytime for a restaurant. Go with anything and everything. The only better colour would be gold and silver to go with any jewellery and spectacle frame and watch. Since I have gold colour on my watch and spectacle frame, i am perfectly co-ordinated.

2 Practical

They are flat, comfortable to wear, easy walking, safer than spindly heels.

The laces enable you to adjust them.

The laces support the ankle. No falling out or falling off your shoes.

3 Attractive - Sexy

All those laces hint at a vulnerable person. Yet an attacker would have to spend a long time getting them off.

4 See Through

Hint at the naked feet inside.

See through - cool to wear.

5 Easy  Wear Low Heels

So I put them on, or tried to put them on. The laces were tight on the ankle. A real nuisance to pull all the way down. Risk of pulling out the end of the lace and having to re-thread the laces.

After wasting time on this, I turned the sandals sideways and discovered a zip!

Zip

Silly me. But the zip is cleverly concealed. Subtle. Well done, to the designer.

Buyer Beware

There is a lesson, when buying and trying on these sandals. Use the zip. Make sure you buy a pair which has zips.

Labels

The undersole has the words Made in Spain and 5D.

Later I discovered a sticker under the right hand show which says that the outside is metallic leather. The inside is leather.

The sole must be something else. It says CHAT SHOW.

There is a bar code.

Narrow Sole

The sole is narrow. Not good for long walks. Perfect for standing around at a party.

Open toe

Means you need to cut and buff your toenails or put on nail varnish. Unless you like the naked look.

Your feed, your big toe, might get bitten by mosquitos under the unswept table in a restaurant at night. Can you wear smart socks or unobrustive tights? Or spray your feet with anti-insect spray?

I was bitten on my calves, last week, by what looked like a mosquito from the little fingernail size pink raised bight, at an open air restaurant beachside Italian restaurant in Dhermi, on the Albanian Riviera. (I wished I had been able to wear sensible Crocs covering my feet and hiding or co-ordinating with practical long socks under a long skirt.)

So there you have it. All the delights as well as potential disadvantages of  the attractive gladiator shoes.

They are always in fashion. Currently (2023 June) sold by Shein, Etsy and others. Shein is selling synthetic ones at UK price 15.95 sterling pounds. Etsy has leather ones at 70 something.

You can buy them with laces or three buckles which means they are adjustable.

If you read a review on Shein, the reviewers ask you to give them an uptick if you find their review helpful.
