Dress of the Day 189: Coral Pink Scarf with 6 buttons, down front and back, by Thomas Calvi, over Coral Pink cape blazer
The Scarf - Shopping
Scarf by Thomas Calvi, ten pounds, from a motorway service station shop between London and Swanwick, Derbyshire, driving back south.
The Print
You have to stand as I did, arms out, to show the full effect of the print.
I chose a plain colour jacket in coral pink, picking out the colour of the scarf, plain rather than print to show the print on the edge of the scarf.
The Scarf Fabric
The fabric is see-through and light-weight. It does tend to run easily. If I see a thread hanging, I cut it off before it can catch on something and pull tight.
The Buttons
This scarf is the same construction as the one in the previous photo. Two long oblong scarves hang, one over each shoulder. The two scarves are fastened together, down the front by three bottons, down the back by another three. The buttons are simply sewn to fasten the two scarves edge to edge. The buttons are four and a half inches or eleven centimetres apart, buttonhole to buttonhole.
The Cape Blazer
Coral pink cape blazer from Pretty Little Thing, UK. They have offices overseas and ship worldwide.
The Blue Shoes - brand Vizzano
The shoes are dark blue, to match the blue round-neck, short-sleeve vest. I love the colour. Not very practical for me. The shoes are flat. Brand Vizzano, made in Brazil. Flexible sole. Comfortable. So long as you stay sitting down.
The back strap does not grip and cannot be adjusted. To keep the shoes on, I added a piece of black, thin, loose hat elastic bought from Daiso. I just tied it on to the back strap.
Lazada, Singapore, in Jan 2021 has 24 Vizzano shoes but they are high heeled and strapless, nothing like these.
The Brazilian shoes website in the USA had a pair with the same solid rubbery sole and the wide toe cover, but no back strap, One of 148 Vizzano shoes.
The Partly Silk Vest In Royal Blue
Patra, in the UK. I love their silk and party silk tops.
The Orange Hat
The orange hat was the nearest I could get to the coral pink. I found an orange fabric flower attached to a hair clip which added to the hat to give added interest.
I am looking forward to creating a different look with a red dress underneath, picking out the red sails on the scarf, and not dividing the background into an upper and lower half. You will see this in the next post.
