 Starting with values: Simple and easy to remember. the five core values include

2 Respecting people of all religions and none


Traditions include the pubs, stately homes and the Union Jack flag.

How do you show these in a photo? By waving a Union Jack flag or standing beside one.  By wearing the Union Jack on important days.

 By featuring landmarks as backdrops. By featuring pubs. Tower Bridge.

You assume things are done the British way until you go abroad. Then you find the Chinese really do eat rice with chopsticks. Therefore visually you can show joint values, or contrasts, the British flag alongside an American or Chinese flag. Contrast weather in another country, in a photo. 

Self-Captioning Photos

I used to look back at photos and try to identify them. I remember looking at holiday snaps or photos. Where was that cathedral? Eventually I would find a picture of a church or a hotel or shop with its name, a street signpost, or visitor wearing a tee-shirt. If I wear a Chinese outfit such as a cheongsam I look for chopsticks or a picture of China to add to the atmosphere. I am sure professional fashion shoot photographers and wedding photographers and many amateurs do the same.

Flag Colours

If you have a holiday outfit and you don't have the access to a suitable prop or the time, you can use colours to provide a co-ordinated effect. Any theme party does the same. 

Red and white to matches the Chinese or Singaporean flag. As soon as I show myself in red and white in the last weeks of July and the first week of August I get comments that, 'You are wearing the flag colours!' 

Red and white and blue for the Union Jack. The red and white from the England flag, the blue and white from the Scottish flag. Unity.

What is this? My repair.  I have a lovely shiny, smart black slip, from Marks & Spencers. It has a slit with pretty lace edging.  But it is slightly tight. It tore from the top of the slit, diagonally.  I looked for another slip. The ones I found onlin were twice the price and not in a satiny fabric. I wore it torn. I repaired it several times. What to wear for a funeral? A black funeral coat from Marks & Spencers Outfit 291

The invitation said nothing about the dress code.  I know lots of funerals nowadays people were mixed colours. Some specify wearing jolly colours. My friend at the funeral told me, "Always wer black. Unles it specifies otherwise, the rule is, wear black." I had my usual blue anorak with the hood with me. I left it in the car. In the boot of the car, in case anybody broke into the car hoping to find money in the pockets or because they wanted a coat to wear or sell. The safest thing is to leave a completely empty car. At least everything in the boot so the car looks empty. I could have kept the blue anorak in my black tote bag. I always found they had small size clothes, and were pracical as well as pretty, and keenly priced. Mine is vintage. Probably from st Luke's in Hatch End in NW London. You can buy from their current range online. Of their current range, in January 2024, i like the reversible gilet in wine and pink. Brand clockhouse. Standup collar. Zip. They call the colour purple.
