What do I collect?

Musical Instruments
I collect accordions, Australian didgeridoos, bells, castanets, harmonicas, maracas, quarter size violins, recorders, squeaky toys, talking puppets, self-playing pianos, musical boxes, miniature musical instruments in toy shops and music shops, toy pianos, triangles, ukeleles.

Where to find puppets
I look for them everywhere. Every time I go into a toy store. Every time I go into a Xmas gift department. Every time I go into a charity shop. Every time I go into a museum shop. Every time I stop at a motorway gift shop or stationery and grocery store.

Look online for puppets and toys, not just at Xmas, all year. From party shops, novelty shops, fancy dress shops, or just a general search. 
Look at Amazon, Ebay, and the Puppet company. Search words to use:
Finger puppet, hand puppet, glove puppet, marionette, puppet theatre, rod puppet.

To Make Puppets From Gloves
The easiest puppets are glove puppets. Make finger puppets with a different face drawn or embroidered on each finger. Or cut off the fingers of the gloves to make up to five puppets from each glove.

Mittens' Puppets
Mittens can also be used. Use both gloves to create twins. Or cut the fingers off the other glove to make bobble eyes. A pale glove or mitten can be dyed. Alternatively use beads or buttons for eyes.
Attach a toothpick flag or sandwich flag.

Puppet Voices
To create a puppet voice, speak lower or high than normal for the puppet. If you like, hide your mouth with your other hand or with a fan. Or you can pretend to read a book, whilst the puppet character tries to get your attention. Then you put down the book, speak to the puppet, and lift up the book.

You could also take a photo of yourself and create a younger sister or brother who looks similar to you, but smaller, with different hair.

Another useful prop would be a look-alike of yourself as your alter ego, the untidy you with scary hair, or for a motivational talk, a fearful you who needs encouraging to take action. 

Have fun with your props and puppets!

Do you feel it is too much effort, buying props and puppets? Never mind. Having thought about it, you will then be able to appreciate the time and work that has been done for your benefit, by those who entertain you with props and puppets.

The Apron

Belfast is Northern Ireland. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The reverse of the label says made in the uk, and 100% cotton, pvc coated. I use it every day, in the UK, three times a day, to protect my clothes when eating breakfast, lunch and dinner. Actually, up to five times a day, sometimes also for elevenses (snack break at 11 am) and tea time.

The black matt webbing ribbon at waist level ties behind my back.

What is this? My repair.  I have a lovely shiny, smart black slip, from Marks & Spencers. It has a slit with pretty lace edging.  But it is slightly tight. What to wear for a funeral? A black funeral coat from Marks & Spencers Outfit 291

The invitation said nothing about the dress code.  I know lots of funerals nowadays people were mixed colours. Some specify wearing jolly colours. My friend at the funeral told me, "Always wer black. Unles it specifies otherwise, the rule is, wear black." I had my usual blue anorak with the hood with me. I left it in the car. In the boot of the car, in case anybody broke into the car hoping to find money in the pockets or because they wanted a coat to wear or sell. The safest thing is to leave a completely empty car. At least everything in the boot so the car looks empty. I could have kept the blue anorak in my black tote bag. I always found they had small size clothes, and were pracical as well as pretty, and keenly priced. Mine is vintage. Probably from st Luke's in Hatch End in NW London. You can buy from their current range online. Of their current range, in January 2024, i like the reversible gilet in wine and pink. Brand clockhouse. Standup collar. Zip. They call the colour purple. Price 29.99 Euros.Reduced to 19.99 in the sale. Sleeveless. Item number  2203144 The red quilted jacket with hood was 19.99 Euros. Webpage picture.
