Marks & Spencer's Many Labels Inspire You To Create Your Own New Label with your old clothes repaired, restyled, cut into shapes, cut short. Post 582
Do you remember the old Marks & Spencer label, St Michael? It suggested reliability, above the average. In those days marks had just one label.

They have since added several new brands. Some names suggest sizes, such as Petite. Others, like Footglove, for woman's shoes, indicating both function, foot, and quality, softness and flexibility. Other Marks brands added were Autograph and Per Una.
Fun Labels
Would you ever want to start a business and choose a label? You don't need to have a business to have a label. Many people like to label jams or bottles of wine with family names or funky names for weddings, or just for fun at home. Personalising is the thing. Many businesses and brand names use the first name, last name, or intials of the founders. Or the founder's spouse or children, or their ancestor who started the company.
What if you want to turn old items into new, then you have more than you need? As soon as you start to sell clothes, you need a label.
For example, you want to remodel clothes, men's shirts with red collars and open cuffs for ladies. After making three you have enough and clothes are spilling out of your wardrobe. The family are complaining about the money you have spent on new shoes. How about selling off those remodelled clothes?
I have seen a company making maxi skirts from sarees. You could make a bolero and maxi skirt form a saree, and still have enough fabric for a second outfit. Sarees are sometimes sold off as fund raisers at temples. I bought two or three from the big temple at Watford when an Indian friend, Indra, took me there to see the cow(s) and temple and line up for the free meal (sponsored each week by a different family, often in honour of a wedding, or maybe a funeral, or just something they do once a year. Anyway, I am not good at wearing sarees, which tend to come undone, exposing me, creating a trip hazard, embarrassing, taking up space. So I am gradually turning them into capes with a simple slit neck, horizontal, with a right-angle vertical sit, which can be left loose, or fastened with a button and fabric (cut from the folded hem or unstitched edge) or a narrow ribbon loop, plus a spare pearly button, or buy a Chinese knot pair fabric fastener.

I am wondering what name I should use for my label. Dress from Angella. Angel Dresses. ANGELLA L CLOTHES - 1st collection, ANGEL DRESS WEAR. Dress2go. Dressme. Nudress. (a play on new and nude). Name Generator
I tried the name generator and it sent me multiple names, most of which were unsuitable, such as Vote Angel Dress. However, the name Yellow Angel Dress gave me the idea of Red Angel Dress, or Red Angel. or Yellow Angels.
I would have liked rainbow angels but rainbow seems to have political overtones and I simply want a suggestion of bright and varied coloured clothes. Colour Clothes. Color Clothes. Bright Clothes. Brite Clothes. ABC Clothes. All Colour Clothes. Colourful Clothes. Colorful Clothes. Will that keep being mis-spelled? With and without the u, color is American, Colour is English.
Language On Labels
Jacques Vert used French to add mystique, style, class. Per una is Italian. I could use another word from another language, change my name into French. Angelique Clothes. The Angelique. The Angelica Clothes. But angelica could send everybody to sites selling food. How about Angelicaco. Angelco. Angelaco. Try a plural. Angelicas Clothes. Angelican. Angelique Londres Clothes (ALC). Londres Angelique Clothes. Too long to type. LAC. Short for London Angela Clothes. VAL clothes. Short for Vetements Angelique Londres. Valangela. Angelaval.
Carolangel. AngelCarol. Carolyn is my good friend who edits books with me and I write in her anthologies, the And Us series. Carol is also the name of my daughter-in-law.
Which name do you think I should use?
