Sew Nametapes On Hats, protect hats from loss, dress of the day 276

Bought Hat
My husband bought a warm hat in Galeries Lafayette in Beziers, France. It was more expensive than we wanted to pay, about 25 or 35 Euros but a nice warm hat and the cheapest they had.

The colour was Invisible black. Invisable on dark restaurant floors under banquettes. Invisible under the black seat of a hire car. 
I had wanted him to buy a cheaper orange hat, but he liked the softer, warmer black.

Lost Hat
After two days, the new black hat disappeared.

I still had my white hat with the scarf attached. Years ago I had sewn in a name label. You need a name and phone number.

Now I shall put labels in the inside lid of my travelling suitcase for my next trip, with a sewing kit and reels of black and white cotton. As soon as we buy a hat or gloves or coat I shall add a label. That way, if we leave it behind, somebody might shout after us. Or chase after us. Or phone us using our hotel booking number. 

Or reply, 'Yes we have it,' when we phone and ask, 'Did we leave a hat?' 

Lost Swimsuit Story
I once left my swimsuit behind. It was navy blue.

I said, "Do you have my swimsuit. It is blue." 
The assistant replied, 'No I do not have any blue costume, only a black one.' 

I asked 'May I see it?" 

Sure enough, it was mine.

She argued, suspiciously, "But that it was not the colour you said."

 I pointed out, "It is a large size costume, and most Chinese women using your pool are small. Take my phone number. If anybody else claims it, I'll return it."

If I had had my name it, there would have been no discussion or dispute.
Iron on labels are quicker than sewing on labels. But I suspect they might peel off. I go for sew-in labels.
I had no luck with my favourite firm for address labels and business cards, Vistapirnt. They do not have sew on labels, name tapes, nor identifying belts for suitcases.

What to wear for a funeral? A black funeral coat from Marks & Spencers Outfit 291

The invitation said nothing about the dress code.  I know lots of funerals nowadays people were mixed colours. Some specify wearing jolly colours. My friend at the funeral told me, "Always wer black. Unles it specifies otherwise, the rule is, wear black." I had my usual blue anorak with the hood with me. I left it in the car. In the boot of the car, in case anybody broke into the car hoping to find money in the pockets or because they wanted a coat to wear or sell. The safest thing is to leave a completely empty car. At least everything in the boot so the car looks empty. I could have kept the blue anorak in my black tote bag. I always found they had small size clothes, and were pracical as well as pretty, and keenly priced. Mine is vintage. Probably from st Luke's in Hatch End in NW London. You can buy from their current range online. Of their current range, in January 2024, i like the reversible gilet in wine and pink. Brand clockhouse. Standup collar. Zip. They call the colour purple. Price 29.99 Euros.Reduced to 19.99 in the sale. Sleeveless. Item number  2203144 The red quilted jacket with hood was 19.99 Euros. Webpage picture. They also have coats with huge pairs of front pockets and hoods. And drawstrings like the one on my jacket which is not as warm nor as brightly coloured as these appear to be.
